P: (CB 10031962) Photoshop Crashing When Using Adjustment Curves

Photoshop is constantly crashing when I adjust an adjustment curve. This problem has got much worse to the point where I can no longer use adjustment layers!

 

I'm using Apple Mac Book Pro M1 Max 

 

I have done a clean Photoshop install and replaced my preference file.

 

I am on the latest Mac os Sequoia 15.1 (24B83)

 

I am on the latest Photoshop 26.0

 

I have nothing else running and still, it crashes.

 

Any ideas?

    We have a workaround that will go into the next Beta build, which will be out most likely at the end of this week.

    Hah! We finally were able to reproduce this issue, and will be digging into the code to resolve; thanks for your patience!

     

    At this time, it seems to be a problem more likey to affect large files than small ones, and also less likely to occur if you are interacting with the curves slider when your zoom % is set to 100%, in case you need to work around the issue for the time being.

    I don't get a crash report box. Like I said, it is a silent crash. No crash report box, no dialog box, no beach ball, nothing.

    Do you get the crash dialog after the crash? If you put something helpful in the description, like 'Curves adjustment crash', we can look for that and isolate those in our back end system; anything will help.

    I notice when I experience this crash that unlike other crashes, it is NOT accompanied by a spinning beachball and Photoshop does NOT show as non-responsive in Activity Monitor or the Force Quit dialog box. It is almost as if it is a "silent" crash, a simple inability to receive any input whatsoever. Are others having this same experience? 

    I know it is more than an inability to receive input BTW as even if I leave it alone for the required five minues, there is no autosave, which would be lovely but alas it does not happen. So obviously it is a deeper activity interruption than just input recognition.

    Since turning off GPU compositing the problem has stopped.
