P: (CB 10031962) Photoshop Crashing When Using Adjustment Curves

Photoshop is constantly crashing when I adjust an adjustment curve. This problem has got much worse to the point where I can no longer use adjustment layers!

I'm using Apple Mac Book Pro M1 Max

I have done a clean Photoshop install and replaced my preference file.

I am on the latest Mac os Sequoia 15.1 (24B83)

I am on the latest Photoshop 26.0

I have nothing else running and still, it crashes.

Any ideas?

Just revisiting this. I haven't had the crash since disabling GPU compositing so that is definately the short term fix. I do think that performance is generally worse with GPU Compositing disabled though so I'm looking forward to a proper fix.

using 2019 iMac with Intel Core i5, Radeon Pro 570X 4 GB. PS updated last week.  Crashed and lost all the work that was saved. i started over and am unable to work Curves Adjustment to masked layer. tried linking but the Curves is dead on arrival.

Any solutions?

@barrycraig @Gabor Lenart @ninjaretoucher & @Benjamin299849658jvy Thanks for your patience and active contributions on this. We're actively investigating this.

In the meantime, go to Photoshop > Performance > (GPU) Advanced Settings > Uncheck 'GPU Compositing' & restart Photoshop & let me know if that helps.

Thanks!

I haven't worked on a psb for a couple of weeks, so I'm wondering whether this is a factor?

I usually edit 8bit jpgs in PS, 24megapixel.

I attach an Apple Studio Display 5K to my 16" M1 Max MacBook Pro directly, I don't use any dongle.

I also use Wacom Intuos Pro(2015 version).

I also mostly work in 8-bit, Adobe98. I definitely see the crash more often on larger document sizes, I'm almost always working on documents above 20k pixels on either dimension. That being said, it's not a guarantee that file size will initiate the bug. I have a 12GB, 40,000-pixel-wide .psb open at the moment and I've been working on it for hours without a single crash.

I also only ever see the crash when touching a point on a curve.

Hardware I'm using:

- 2 External monitors via a CalDigit dock. (BenQ SW321C)

- 3 External thunderbolt drives

- Razer Tartarus Pro (via USB Overdrive) for Photoshop Macros

- Wacom Intuos Pro, Large

I usually work in 8bit,Adobe RGB, Hi-res imagery normally shot on 50+ megapixels cameras.

Does this affect all images or is there some unifying factor (Color Mode, Bit Depth, Filesize, …)?

I'm on a M1 Max, 4TB storage, 32gb ram, one display, Eizo colour edge CS2740, Photoshop 26.1 and it crashes e few times a day but only when I touch the point on an adjustment curves layer
