P: Crashes using Photomerge when 'geometric distortion correction' box is checked (MacOS 10.6 bug)

Photoshop CC completely crashes whenever I try to use photomerge with the 'geometric distortion correction' box checked. If I do not click that box, it completes the photomerge but the image is very distorted looking because there is no correction.

If i do the photomerge in CS5 with the box checked it works just fine. I would like to use just one version of photoshop to complete this project but as it stands I have to work on my images in CC and then open CS5 to do the photomerge.

Interesting dialogue thank you.
Very similar PS crash here today too.
I am running PSCC in OS 10.9.4 and PS crashes to freeze 40 seconds before freeing up without my Photomerge task. I have a folder of 27 X 46mb tiff image PS will not photo merge. Just the crash as soon as it has imported the images. There is a 1Tb Scratch disk installed it is about half full just now. The files are 8bit.
Help please, David Liddle

This isn't something we can work around in our code (we already tried). You should inform whomever maintains the computers that you really need to update to MacOS 10.7 or 10.8 (10.9 still has it's own problems).

Alright, I confirmed that you are seeing the OS bug. Yes, the only way to fix it is to upgrade to MacOS 10.7 or later.

Thank You everybody for your help and quick reponses. Sad to hear that it is a problem just with my particular OS. Good to know there is no planned fix for this, so now I know I should continue with my workaround until the museum decides to update our OS.

Ah, that sounds a lot like the exception handling bug in the runtime libraries on MacOS 10.6 (which Apple will not be fixing).

Good news bad news. You are right. I can repro this on 10.6.8 with largish sets of images when I have geometric distortion checked. Using 3 images does not crash for me.

I tried 10.7, 10.8 and 10.9 and it does not crash.

So I will log the bug on our side.

I want to set your expectations on this correctly. Since I can only get it to happen on 10.6 it is unlikely that this will be fixed anytime soon. It may get fixed but the chances are low.

I would suggest not using geometric distortion check box in CC. I know that is a pain but that is where we are at.

If you are able to update your OS that may be a good option for you too.

Thanks Christina. I got your message and I am attempting to repro now in 10.6.8. I will let you know. If you want to delete the post with your email please feel free. I have it on my end.
