P: CS5/CS6 text deletes when highlighted for editing on MacOS 10.9

I can't figure out if this is a bug or something I messed up, but it's highly alarming - whenever I try and change the text in a box, it immediately changes to a different font (a font that looks familiar but it's not visible long enough for me to recognize it) and then disappears completely when I finish the action. Sometimes words get rearranged. What do I do? It's really slowing down my work. I don't think it's a good description so I made a screen record of this happening. http://youtu.be/SFi2NjYyb_o

Hi Simon,

Turn off your Dictation app.  It is a known bug with Mavericks.

when I try to change text size or anything esle to text it changes and I can see it for a split second then it vanishes

It's probably me, not the program, but can someone tell me what Im doing wrong?

e.g. I create a new doc, 1200 by 150 ( to make a watermark)+type some text at say 24point, can see it fine, select the text and change to 18 point and it changes to a smaller size then poof! it's gone!

Im sure I have done this many times before with no problem - what am I doing wrong tis time?

Am running Mavericks, but will update to Yosemite and see if the issue persists.

i had the same problem and was frustrated. When i did this it resolved it..thank you so much.
