P: CS6 / CC Keyboard shortcuts not responding Mavericks/Yosemite MacOS 10.9; 10.10

Since Installing Mavericks on my mac pro, the keyboard shortcuts, such as zooming in/out, undo etc, intermittently do not respond.
I have to click on another tool in the tool bar to get the keyboard to respond again.
The problem returns intermittently and seemingly not as a result of the Auto Save function.
My mac pro 15" has 8gb of ram which is more than enough for the type of work I do.I am an illustrator who primarily works around the brush tool.
Have tried disabling Graphics Processor and restarting, but this does not resolve the issue.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Hiya Han,

Further research shows that not only do we have a reproducible case in-house, but that this bug was logged with Apple and Wacom long before 10.9 shipped. At that time, it was assessed to NOT be on Photoshop's end. Given that this bug does not happen with the previous version of the OS or other tablets...in any event, I am trying to raise awareness of this issue again and hopefully get some traction. I'll post more as I learn it.

Thanks,
David

David, Im not so sure this is the only avenue you should be focusing on. I am pretty confident that 95% of artists who use Photoshop here use Wacom tablets. I wouldn't assume just because we have them that this is the cause.

Hi Paolo,

Are you running any other applications which might capture certain keyboard shortcuts? Dictation is one and many screen capture app are others. Often such apps are so busy "helping" that they effectively hijack the keyboard input.

Thanks,
David

Hi Vivek,

Are you artists using tablets? From what I've been seeing, that seems to be the trigger for this problem. We are trying to pursue this; thus far all indications point away from Photoshop as the cause of the problem.

If you would like, we can do a web-mediated screenshare so I can help you troubleshoot what the problem is. Let me know here and I'll follow up.

Thanks,
David

Hi Susan,

It's like that the driver is not compatible with Mavericks. We have had MANY problems with Wacom tablets and their associated sidecar apps hijacking keyboard commands. I am trying to follow up with Wacom, but I would suggest you do the same; as a customer you are likely to have a different reception than I am.

Thanks,
David

Two of our artists are using Photoshop CC running on two Mavericks iMacs and their work is immensely affected, and has already cost a lot to us in couple of our projects. We happened to average one character design a day, and now it takes us about one and a half day to finish one. Is anyone listening?

So I got tired of this issue. My Ps started to slowdown even more with a recent Mavericks update and my productivity decreased a lot. When using my wacom and brushing here and there, when I use a keyboard command like Command+Z it won't work (as Venture 1 shows on the video) and then Ps will slow down and use a lot of memory. I disabled and enabled lots of things, checked the performance and whatnot, but this is going nowhere and as I depend of working on Ps illustrating all day, decided to go back to Mountain Lion.
So far this is the best solution, as I downgraded the OS everything worked just perfect, no freezing, no beachball spinning and the brush+wacom+Ps behave like an angel. Now I'm in love with my MBP again (I even started to shout due to frustration on Ps+Mavericks) but right now we are best friends again.

I'm glad to see other users are experiencing this issue and that Adobe is working on a fix. I posted a thread about a month ago describing the same issue but it didn't get much of a reply.

Yes, a 9x12 Intuos 3 with a freshly updated driver: MacOSX - Driver 6.3.7-3 (10.6x - 10.9x). Not using a Dictation app or any other new Mavericky things. The only open apps are PS, Bridge, Mail and Safari. Thanks!

Same issue here. Photoshop CC 14.1.2, OS X 10.9 Mavericks. Wacom Intuos PTH-650.

Keyboard shortcuts stop responding (most commonly encountered with Cmd+Z and square brackets to change brush size). Clicking or making another brush stroke unfreezes PS. Then keyboard shortcuts work.
