P: CS6 / CC Keyboard shortcuts not responding Mavericks/Yosemite MacOS 10.9; 10.10

Since Installing Mavericks on my mac pro, the keyboard shortcuts, such as zooming in/out, undo etc, intermittently do not respond.
I have to click on another tool in the tool bar to get the keyboard to respond again.
The problem returns intermittently and seemingly not as a result of the Auto Save function.
My mac pro 15" has 8gb of ram which is more than enough for the type of work I do.I am an illustrator who primarily works around the brush tool.
Have tried disabling Graphics Processor and restarting, but this does not resolve the issue.

Any help would be most appreciated.

    No Wacom tablet. It does not matter what I do - I have changed tools, tried using the brush then tried it, tried other tools, switched and switched again. The Command + Spacebar to zoom simply - Does Not Work.

    Oh, and BTW - having the SAME issue in Illustrator!

    NOT happy. I use Photoshop and Illustrator every day and this shortcut is one I use a lot. I am with you Andrew - will go back to Mt. Lion. That DID work.

    For me, I never experienced this problem on CS6 before updating to Mavericks.
    I was previously running lion and I can say with a degree of certainty that this was not an issue.
    I use photoshop daily and this command all the time.

    The issue didn't seem to happen on earlier versions of Photoshop CC. It only started happening recently, and not straight after the Mavericks update. The first issue was a sort of freeze in Photoshop that affected the whole app, together with high CPU usage. That issue seems to be gone now since 14.1.2. But this new issue was introduced that I'm pretty sure wasn't present in the previous version (I was on 14.0.0 and this particular issue wasn't present).

    That's exactly the problem!

    Again, the only solution thus far is to retrograde the system back to the Lion family.

    Hi Martha, that sounds like a different issue. Are you using a Wacom tablet? Does the problem happen after brushing a bit?

    I just upgraded to Mavericks. I am on CC and having the same issue.
    Keyboard shortcuts no longer work in Photoshop. Example: Command + Spacebar just gives me the pointer instead of the zoom.
    PLEASE help. This is very frustrating.

    That sounds about right.

    Thanks for your help Jeffrey.

    Do let me know if you guys come up with anything. I have an appointment booked at the genius bar next week to see if they can put Lion back on my system. Hopefully that will stop it from happening.
    I think I'll wait for a little while before upgrading to mavericks again.
