P: Drop shadow glitch

I had not noticed this behavior prior to the newest release. Drop shadows on layers elsewhere in the documents are causing boxes in the top left corner, size relative to the size of the drop shadow. There is nothing in the vicinity of the box.

In the sample below, the drop shadow on the text center right is causing the box. Turn off the shadow and the box goes away. There are no hidden elements on the pasteboard to the top left—the drop shadow is on that text group only.

Checking Preferences>Legacy Compositing makes the problem go away, but I'd consider that a bug more than a feature.

    This issue should be fixed in the 21.0.2 update that was released yesterday.

    Jonny, I think your issue is https://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/photoshop-cc-2020-layer-effects-on-groups-clipping-error Go to Preferences > Performance... and check "Legacy Compositing" to workaround the issue until the update is released.

    I'm getting a similar issue after recently updating from 2017 to 2020. Left is legacy composting turned on, right is it turned off. It's a clipping mask onto a group that's causing the issue for me, however it seems to be a very similar issue.
