P: Error (fatal requiring a force quit) when trying to split a video clip

I have an outstanding case with Adobe technical support (very poor support).I append the case history to this summary:
However to précis the problem. Since subscribing to PS CC I have been unable to split a video clip (with the scissors tool), when I try to do this I get a fatal error (ie PS freezes) by repeatedly clicking the OK in the error dialog the clip eventually splits but the error remains and I have to force quit out of PS.
At Adobe's suggestion I have removed the preferences file (for PSCC), removed all previous versions of PS also used Adobes clean up tool to assist this, followed by uninstalling CC and reinstalling. A quirk is that on reinstall (this reverts to the early version of PS CC) the error goes away but when updating PS CC (being alerted to updates) the error returns.

Welsh or Soren,

Does running under a new Admin user or uninstall/reinstall correct this for you? (I would try in that order since creating a new Admin account is a very quick test)

Thanks Jared. This points to a resource file potentially being damaged or locked (wrong permissions) through the upgrade process.

I'm saying to create a new Admin account to see if this issue is related to damaged permissions.

PS CC will not edit an .avi file from a Nikon D3s. Attempting to cut the file results in a dialog box saying "program error". Clicking OK makes the reappear etc, until you force quit.
Apparently Adobe UK is aware of the problem.

just check that this isn't the first version of PS CC and not the latest update. I did the same and it worked for me. Then when I updated it gave the same error.

I uninstalled Photoshop CC and then Reinstalled and after that the issue has stopped and things seem to be working fine #fingerscrossed

Hi I have removed the preferences and restarted CC but with no success regarding the error. There is only one Admin on my machine. I have not tried to run in safe mode. I believe that these are all non starters. Incidentally you will see that someone else has reported a similar situation (Jared Ponchot)

I have this thread live with Jeffrey Tranberry (he told me he has passed to Adobe's video guys) also I have an outstanding Adobe Portal Case in the UK.

Hi Jared,

We've tried to reproduce this issue but haven't been able to reproduce in house, yet.

There seems to be something system specific causing this issue.

Can you tell me if restoring the preferences, running under a new Admin account to troubleshoot permissions, or running Safe Mode avoids this problem?

I'm experiencing the exact same problem. Did you find a solution?
