P: File name and extension highlight when saving on macOS 10.15 Catalina

Hello. After last updates (Osx Catalina and CC 2020), when the save window appear, the focus, highlite, is on all the file name and extension instead only the filename. I suspect the issue is related to Catalina, but I ask if anyone has noticed the same thing. My working speed is affected and I would like to know if anyone has a solution to ensure that only the file name is highlighted (in save and export).
Thank you
Michele

And yes! It can get worse! In OSX 12.0.1  Monterey when saving the name isn't even high-lighted anymore! What a huge dissapointment since the rest of the OSX is quite good... It's crazy: when savin you now have to enter 3x tab to get the name (PLUS EXTENSION haha!) highlighted. One can't belive it: its even worse than it was .... aaarghhhh

Yes. 10.14 will be dropped with the new versions of Adobe apps at MAX and the release of Monterey. The policy follows Apple's historical support of current version and two versions back (3 most current versions of macOS) with security updates.

Curious @Jeff Arola  if Adobe will "drop" support of Mojave once Monterry comes out. Right now its listed as the minimimum requirement yet I'd be surprised if it didn't run on a High Sierra or even lower Mac even if some bugs showed. I think I recall they said they would only support back 3 versions yet I would bet the oldest OS gets the least amount of attention.

Bap Film School,

Your photoshop version is 23.3.1 or 22.5.1?

In photoshop look under Help>System Info at the top line for the Photoshop Version.

The big issue for me is when saving out screenshots for this Adobe forum, if one forgets to manually add the extension after renaming in Save for Web, this forum won't accept the images.

Adobe was suppossed to have fixed the Save for Web extension issue in photoshop 22.5

(however it was only fixed in Catalina and Big Sur and not Mojave)

hey @Bàp Film School unfortunately its not going to back to to  the way it use to be. This started with Apple making a change and you'll see across the board on every application running on a Mac, not just Adobe apps, that the whole file name area will always be highlighted BUT the majority of apps just don't show the extension on that line. For example when you go to save a TextEdit file it doesn't show you .txt on a Save screen.

Not it was really a problem back when you would create the name for your file without an extension and it would save a file that wasn't openable until you add the extension to the file but fortunately this has been fixed.

SO while it takes a little getting use to, with the newest versions of PS we can just ignore that it shows the extension and type away what we want the file name to be and when its saved the extension will automatically be added. If there is something that might be changed with Photoshop in the furture then maybe its to give us users the option to hide the extension from being shown in the Save As: field in the first place. I've gotten in the habit of looking at the Format: toggle anyways to confirm I'm saving out as the format that I want it to be anyways.

Hope that helps!

Hey @clif_CROP - I tried the UNIX and it doesn't work. I think @Jeff Arola is right and it comes from my Mojave OS.

I will look into upgrading my OS.

Many thanks to all.

The File>Export>Save for Web file naming, which was broken in Catalina and

Big Sur, but was not broken in macOS Mojave until in an photoshop update it was

broken and then a photoshop update fixed the file naming issue in Save for Web in

Catalina and Big Sur, but left Mojave still broken.
