P: Freeze when adding blending options

When I attempt to add a stroke to text under blending I get the spinning color wheel after I apply the color.  Results in a force quit and loss of work.  

SOLUTION?

    Hi Eric,
    In the Preferences window, select  the "Performance" tab in the left pane.  The main pane should refresh with a new set of settings where you can check or uncheck "Legacy Compositing".  See attached screenshot.

    I am using Photoshop 21.0.2 on Mac OS 10.15.1. As of this morning, whenever I try to go to Blending Options, the screen freezes until I hit the ESC key or force quit. Can you help me find the Legacy Compositing checkbox? I can't find it under Preferences and it does not appear in the search box. Here is what the screen looks like when I try to use Blending Options.

    Hi Mike,

    This issue was resolved in 21.0.1, which came out on 11/11. If you haven't already, please update Photoshop and uncheck the box in preferences for Legacy Composting to resume using the new compositing engine. Let us know how it goes!

    Hi Mike,
    We have a fix for this issue coming out in v21.0.1.  This version will be released shortly soon.  We are really sorry for the inconvienance.

    Hey Mike,

    Can you reliably trigger / prevent this bug by changing your color picker from Adobe to Apple still?  If so, I would very much like to know so I can follow up with you.

    Hi Mike,
    Thank you for sharing your PSD with me.  I was unfortunately not able to reproduce the issue on my macbook pro 15" 2017, running Catalina. Changing the color in Adobe color picker does not freeze or hang for me.  I'll keep trying some other things.  But I'm sorry I cannot identify the root issue yet.

    I tried this with no success. Instead, changing Color Picker from" Adobe" to "Apple" worked (Preferences/General). I hope Adobe will fix this in future updates; I prefer their color picker!
