P: Liquify lightens result on 16 bit/channel images

I am having issues with the new upgrade to Photoshop CC 2015 on Mac El Captain. The only thing I did was upgrade from a working CC 2015 to the new version. Using the liquify tool give the following look. There is a box around the area liquified that is lighter than the other areas. When I turn of Use Acceleration in Graphics Processor, it is better but .... I didn't have to do this in the prior version i.e.. Yesterday.

The update is not listed in the CC application.
I went through steps 1-4 on this page with all the fuss included with no result:

Do I really have to go with step 5? I don't want to have to set up everything again...

Come on Adobe, get your issues sorted out and don't bother your paying customers with it!

It's a driver/OS issue... Not something that can be fixed in PS.

The cursor still disappears when saving and loading liquify meshes. What's
up with that? Are you sure you're working on that?

Am I really the only professional who uses liquify meshes?
