P: Liquify Transparent Pixels and Crash (macOS Big Sur)

I assume that the latest release (version 22.1.1) doesn't address this issue, or was this fixed as well?

I'm on win10, Photoshop 22.1.0 (but the same issue exists in 20.0.10), nvidia drivers updated yesterday (1070ti).

I don't experience any crush, but liquify filter doesn't work on partially transparent layers, even when they're smart object:

- pixels get smudged (kind of layer blend set to  dissolve)

- whenever I try to reopen and edit a smart object, it doesn't remember the modifications previously applied, and if I change the contenct of the smart object, pixels get smudged.

- I have to apply the liquify filter again in order to make any modification to the layer.

Using ALT before invoking the liquify filter seems to retain the modification and the modified mesh, but for all the previously applied instances, the modified mesh is ignored. Even when using ALT, on a smart object, the previous modifications are ignored.

I also tried removing the preferences (of both versions of Photoshop) and it didn't fix the problem.

Can you please verify this isssue?

With some quick testing under similar conditions, that does appear to have fixed the issue.

I seem to recall that I had made adjustments to GPU settings to address an issue with the original release (CMYK text), so perhaps that is where things went wrong.

Ok. That definitely points to a GPU issue.

It might be a saved settings in your preferences for the GPU. If you restore your preferences using this manual method does it work correctly:

If that doesn't solve it, you can quit Photoshop and put the Settings folder back.

Checked: Does not appear to occur with option => filter liquify.

I've just recreated issue and made sure to include email.

Will try to open tool with ctrl pressed and see if issue presents itself.
