P: LrC (11.0.1) Edit in PS2022 fails because Photoshop could not be launched - Error Message

Since updating my subscription to Adobe for Photographers (Photoshop & Lightroom) I am having an issue when launching Photoshop 2022 from Lightroom v11.

If I right click on the image I'm working on in Lightroom and select 'Edit in Photoshop 2022' I am asked whether or not I want to edit a copy or the original (as I would expect).

If I select "Edit Original" everything works to plan, the image opens in Potoshop and I can proceed.

However:

If I select either "Edit a Copy with Lightroom Adjustments" or "Edit a Copy" I have an issue.
I can see the copy being created on the Film Strip at the bottom of the Lightroom screen, Photoshop starts up and stops at the launch screen but the image fails to open in photoshop.

If I wait for 2 or 3 minutes I recieve an error message in Lightroom: "The file could not be edited because Adobe Photoshop 2022 could not be launched"

If I then select 'OK' in the error message the image immediately opens in Photoshop and I can work away.

This morning an followup update to Photoshop 2022 (to Ver: 23.0.1) was installed and it made no difference.
This afternoon Camera Raw also had a followup update to Version 14.0.1 and it has made no difference.
The problem is still there.

Is this a bug or is there a some way I can fix the problem.

I'm using a Windows PC - Running Win 10 and it has 24gb of RAM

This is NOT the question. The question is: Many people can open it, but the box comes up: Driver update recommended. Driver is out of date. Open CL unavailable. Open GL available. DirectX available. above required VRam. However, in the Performance Settings, the AMD card is recognized, and if checked, advanced, open CL is greyed out. Bad code writing. If you have settings I need to change and then this will work, ok. If not, write new code, so it will work like Adobe Lightroom Classic does. right now only a few things will work, OR it freezes up, and have to CRTL/Alt/Delete and close PS. Do we need to alter the registry as I have found, or do we dare do this in the Windows registry.

This message is for any customer who is attempting to send to Photoshop from Lightroom Classic 11.0.1 or Lightroom Desktop 5.0.

To date, we have not been able to reproduce this issue at Adobe. We need your help!

If you are still experiencing this issue and have tried each step of the following with not resolution, our engineering team would like to connect with you.

Try the following steps in the exact order.

After each step check to see if PS will launch from Lightroom - do not do all five without checking between each step.

  1. Verify Camera Raw is up to date 14.0.1
  2. Reset Photoshop Preferences
  3. Remove old installations of Photoshop
  4.  Reinstall Photoshop by removing it and installing it again.  (23.0.2)
  5.  Reset Lightroom Preferences
  6.  Reinstall Lightroom by removing it and installing it again. (11.0.1 - Classic or 5.0 Desktop)

If after performing these 6 steps you still do not have the ability to launch PS successfully from inside of either Lightroom Desktop client, and are willing to set up a sharing session with an Adobe engineer, please send me a private message via this forum and mention PS-77917 in the subject line.

Thank you for your assistance in our ongoing investigation.

Kaley6C19 - thats an interesting response that you got from Adobe. Thanks for the input..

I have seen no mention of my graphics card not being supported. If that's Adobe's response it begs the question, will they still charge us the monthly subscription if we cant get further updates.

This. When I replaced my old graphics card, this problem went away.

Having said that, previous versions of LR/PS worked fine, even though the card was not supported for some functions.

For what it is worth, I let Adobe remotely work on my computer.  3 people, probably over 8 hours. Ultimately they used an older version of photoshop (maybe two) and it works fine now.  Only issue they told me is my graphics card may no longer be supported by Photoshop.

This problem is far from being fixed.

Today I have metodically uninstalled all 'Adobe' applications from my PC (Photoshop, Lightroom, Creative Cloud and Adobe Genuine Service)
I then rebooted the PC, logged into My Adobe Account on the WEB.

I reinstalled Adobe Creative Cloud allowing it to reinstall Adobe Genuine Service.

I opened Creative Cloud and from there I installed Photoshop and Lightroom (in that order).

Rebooted the PC.

I Then launched Lightroom and tried to edit an image using Edit in Photoshop 2022. I got exactly the same result as before.

After 100 sec I got an error message in Lightroom saying it couldn't open Photoshop. I  OK'd the error message and then the image immediately opened in Photoshop.

This problem is going on for over a month and its time we got some action from Adobe.
