Legit fonts from legit foundries that appeared in PS2021 are not appearing in 2022.

Downgrading.

Photoshop has implemented a new type engine that has apparently not been brought over to other apps yet.

What I don't understand is why the fonts that don't work in PS now, because of this decision, work in other Adobe apps fine. I understand that perhaps it's the right decision, but to not do it consistently across all applications is confusing and illogical. I really don't want to spend $500 to replace a suite of fonts that is dictated by my client's branding either.

I've already rolled back and don't intend to update unless they come to their senses on this... simply can't afford to lose 90% of my font collection out of the blue. I suppose they'll try to use this to promote fonts.adobe.com, which I agree is an awesome resource... but that doesn't mean I simply want to throw away the thousands of dollars I invested building my Type 1 collection over the years.

I suspect that Type 1 fonts have worked better than anyone ever expected and that there will be massive backlash to abandoning the format, from pros who have huge and expensive type libraries. There is no way I could afford to repurchase even a small fraction of the fonts I use.

Wow... I don't know what effort was made to make people aware of this MASSIVE change, but I personally had zero time to prepare as I just found out from searching after what seems like 90% of the fonts I've been using for over a decade suddenly stopped working today. Insane...

You will need to repurchase all of your Type 1 fonts in OpenType formats.

This is a shocking development. We are a global ad agency and have hundreds of fonts across hundreds of clients that suddenly won't work in Photoshop because of "digital parameters". Loads of our work is print, etc so this doesn't really fly. Will be advising staff to not udgrade.

Your specified deadline (that may as well have been posted on our nearest inhabited planet) is Jan 2023, are we living in the future?

Yes - same issue. I run most updated version of Suitcase Fusion. Spent all morning trying to troubleshoot. Maybe downgrading is the way to go. Thanks Adobe.

I'm in the same boat here. I have a large commercial library half of which no longer works in this upgrade. This is 100% a deal killer. Thanks Adobe

@dano14087812 Photoshop was the first of the Creative Cloud apps to discontinue Type 1 fonts. The other apps will discontinue Type 1 support by the end of 2022.
