Legit fonts from legit foundries that appeared in PS2021 are not appearing in 2022.

Downgrading.

Yep, we were getting pop-up warnings in Indesign about the 2023 event – didn't get any for PSD though. I wonder if there any other Adobe applications that are doing the same before 2023?

We've experieced the same problem with our primary brand font Gotham. The message is confusing about Type 1 -  says this will happen 2023? Had to go back to previous version.

Yes, and it's really frustrating. I've used the same fonts for almost a decade with no problem and all of a sudden with this update they're not recognized.

I am not getting this error message in illustrator or indesign, just the newest photoshop. I even reinstalled the previous version of photoshop (2021) and it is not a problem in that build. I have thousands of files that use this font family and it's not an option to have to reinstall with a different name and have to change and update them each time I open a file. What's up?

I had been aware from the Adobe HelpX article cited above that Type 1 support would end in 2023. I did not realize that this meant "Photoshop Type 1 support will end sometime in 2021 whenever we feel like it." I realize that Type 1 fonts are no longer the gold mine for Adobe that they once were, so you don't care, but this policy doesn't seem very user-centric.

@jeffa35877359 Photoshop (and soon other Creative Cloud apps) no longer supports Type 1 fonts. Try activating "Futura PT" on fonts.adobe.com as a substitute.

Here is an Adobe HelpX article that goes into detail about the discontinuation of Type 1 fonts:

I have the Poppl-Laudatio family which I got with Photoshop 3.0 way back in about 1995 and I've used it in hundreds of documents. Its several hundred bucks to purchase (what I think is the same family, from Berthold) and Adobe no longer offers it. I guess I could use TransType (which also costs money) or poke around with command line tools to see if I can convert those typefaces. :sigh:

Photoshop Product Manager here...the deprecation of Type 1 fonts was first announced back in September 2019, since then we have tried to get the word out on the deprecation via Reddit, Twitter, and Adobe Community articles - but clearly the message did not reach all our valued users. The team is working on better and more consistent ways to communicate changes to the UI, workflows, and deprecation of features so changes have limited disruptions.

A few suggestions regarding the deprecation of the Type 1 fonts: look to see if there is an equivalent OpenType font (fonts.adobe.com). If using a bespoke Type 1 font - an option is to reach out to the foundry to see if they can convert to an OpenType font.

I'm experiencing the same as others above. InDesign and Illustrator are still loading PS Type 1 Fonts but not Photoshop. Regardless of the prior 'announcement' this is pretty important info to creative developers. Out of curiosity, how was this communicated? One announcement on a Forum page or similar doesn't really constitute adequate communication. If there is an email to which I can subscribe, please let us know. I'd love to know about stuff like this. The removal of the 3D features in Photoshop was also not really widely communicated and came as a surprise, but that's a topic for another day.

My Sabon font is not showing up in Photoshop 2022. (I'm on a Mac desktop.) The font is in the font book, and shows up in other apps like Word. I've tried some of the trouble shooting things -- deleting the font cache, validating fonts, reset preferences on quit. Nothing changes. This is a crucial font for me. Please help!

Thank you

Hi. Today trying to open a saved doc on my laptop I cannot use the Futura T font which is in my fonts folder. Photoshop 2022 cannot access it. This is disturbing!

is anyone having issues with their fonts not showing up? I just updated and re-opened a file I was working on and the fonts just disappeared, while they still are installed on my mac.
