Love the multiple path selection tool in Photoshop CC, but is there a way to *not* include invisible & locked layers?

I think we can all look for this fix to be released in the next few days, not weeks. Perhaps it's coming with more "new" features as well, which we will all love.

@Chris Cox, I didn't imagine the update that I got yesterday for Illustrator and PS as I waited for them to run the process but you would know more than me.

Honestly, looking for that little icon in a sea of layers is the equivalent of sifting through ground pepper for housefly crap with boxing gloves but don't fret you guys are working on it.

I'd love to know what you consider an unannounced product or version of a product because we are not talking about either in my definition of the issue. This is a damn bug that affects the entire working process of PS. I'm tired of hearing that this is something other than that. I'll be sure to tell the others that this is hush hush so we can bill our clients a line item called "PS feels it's necessary to remain hush hush about a bug that affects productivity".

"See the official answer at the beginning of the topic."

I think the frustration we're having is that the "official response" does pretty much nothing to solve the problem, nor is it even a viable workaround for people who work with thousands of layers contained within multiple groups of nested folders. Sorry but I'm not going to spend an extra 45 minutes manually locking items in my layer palette just to move one sub-group around.

I'm not out to give you a hard time, but as I've raised earlier, I won't rest on this matter until a fix is published since I for one cannot productively conduct business until this issue is addressed properly. "We're working on it" is not enough communication - we're not asking you to tell us about the upcoming features in PS CC2, we just want to know when this problem is likely to be resolved so we can make reparations to our clients for late work borne by flaws in your software.

This is not a UI glitch or a sluggish slider that we are whinging about. This is a bug that is affecting the most fundamental operation in PS -- selecting stuff!

Chris, I know you guys have acknowledged the problem, but you haven't gone any further to tell us approximately when this might be resolved, or how, or anything like that. To those who make a living through using your software, that kind of silence is incredibly painful, and curt responses to legitimate complaints don't really help the issue.

I've been a massive advocate of Adobe software, particularly PS since the days of 1.0 / 2.0. I've loved your products - I have found no cause to register for an account on this site and complain until this issue sprang up, and I understand it's not easy for you guys to turn around a product that works flawlessly on every computer on the planet.

But I look at alternatives like GIMP and Inkscape who put out fixes and releases very rapidly, and I wonder if I'm better off using software that's actually patched on a regular basis. Windows have Patch Tuesday, Mac has point releases every second week or so, why can't Adobe do the same thing? Isn't that what the philosophy of "Creative Cloud" is all about?

And we haven't shown disinterest - we acknowledged the bug and said that we're working on it!

Yes, legally we cannot tell you about unannounced products or versions of products. That isn't flippant - that's just the facts.

Are you really trying to tell us that you can't give us an idea of when you'll be releasing fix for this issue because you're a publicly traded company? Come on.

Most of us are trying to be patient and we understand that it can take time to sort through bug requests, make priorities, etc. On the other hand, this is an important workflow issue for a lot of people. A flippant response and some bologna about being a publicly traded company isn't helpful.

Maybe it's worth remembering that there's a lot of emerging competition for Photoshop. I've personally been resisting the urge to switch to Sketch for my day-to-day work. I suspect other people here are too. Animosity from a "Sr. Computer Scientist" at Adobe doesn't help the case for sticking around, esp, on top of what seems to be a disinterested response to a regression bug that prevents us from doing our work.

Photoshop CC has not had any updates since it's initial release. It is still version 14.0.0.

Photoshop CC / mac /

Dear Photoshop team I am very appreciative of all your hard work and efforts to put out a great product and it is one great product.

With that stated I must admit that I am very disappointed with the bug that has been reported over 2 months ago in regards to hidden locked group layers being selected on drag selecting with the move tool. I have lost a significant amount of time in production of design with this flaw. I don't believe two months is an unreasonable amount of time to make the fix to this bug considering it has never had an issue in the past.

Every response to this complaint states that Adobe is aware of the problem that it is being worked on but discussions about the release of the BUG FIX is not something representatives are able to discuss. That is a poor excuse as this is not a small bug with a work around on files with hundreds of layers. Did you understand that? Hundreds of layers! If I told you the work around for finding a 2.5" nut in a pile of hundreds of 2" nuts but you have to sift through a bottle neck the diameter of a milk container would you accept that as an answer? We only have so much real estate on screen. I have many layers of on/off/action states and so forth and this is the worst issue I have EVER had. This is not a mistake this is a complete lack attention by the analyst/testers.

To make matters worse I just updated PS with your bug fix update and was hoping to see a fix to this issue but was devastated to see that you once again failed to correct the issue. When are you going to get this issue corrected? WE DESERVE TO KNOW AS PAYING CUSTOMERS WHO SUPPORT YOUR BUSINESS! I am fuming about this and no longer even want to open and work with my files due to this issue.

P.S. Please don't respond with long work around solutions that don't do production deadlines any favors. As mentioned before my supervisors don't accept the response you provide and neither would you. When a deadline is a deadline your inability isn't an excuse.

The votes don't matter. See the official answer at the beginning of the topic.
Adobe is a publicly traded company, we can't tell you much about unannounced products or versions of products.
