P: No image preview on Open dialog box on Windows

The preview window in the "Open" dialog box on Windows is gone in Photoshop. So if I click on a PSD file (once) to preview it, there isn't one. I have to completely open the file or go digging for it in Bridge. This is a very fundamental feature that needs to return, especially for those of us that have hundreds of files to dig through. PLEASE fix this.

Oh, I totally agree Kim. This isn't a solution by any means. More or less, I was just trying to shuffle people off this board that were just looking for a thumbnail solution in the list box like SageThumbs provides. If that's all they were looking for, there are plenty of third party programs out there like that for that purpose and they needed to stop posting on these boards with those third party solutions like that. But for the many of us that browse in list view and need to due to the hundreds of files we have with different versions of each, there is still no good solution and we are stuck in the middle a finger-pointing match between Adobe and Microsoft, both saying it's the other's fault.

I tried this SageThumbs - and it is almost the same as bridge... it loads every single preview and takes forever. I just want to see the difference between a couple files at a time - it's great if you don't have a lot of files in your folders.

Another vote to put Open dialog preview back in - it's so frustrating browsing through a huge database of images, and having to open each similarly name image to find the right model without a preview. Bridge is way to big, and the images I need to browse are to large for mini bridge - if it doesn't crash my system, I have to wait up to 10 minutes for images to load - Bridge is a useless program, a time and space hog.

I detest Bridge and I'm guessing Adobe won't be doing anything about this any time soon so I just purchased FastPictureViewer Codec pack. It's around a tenner (UK) and has other benefits aside from Photoshop previews. I should add that medium/large/extra large icons must be chosen in the 'Open' dialogue box in order for this to work.

I have posted this topic in a couple of places on Microsoft's forums. According to MS folks, this is an Adobe issue - not Microsoft.

Staff on this forum have indicated the change was made due to MS's dialogue box security guidelines. So us users are basically screwed in the crossfire...

Is this an oversight? I doubt it. So why on earth omit one of the most functional (dare I go as far as to say essential?) features of Photoshop. I can physically feel myself wasting time!! Inexcusable.

I am very disappointed and would not have purchased CS6 if I knew this problem exsisted. Photoshop has loss me as a customer who upgrades when a new product comes out

I have Windows 8 beta and I've used PS CS5 with no issues with preview in the Open diolog box. CS6 however is a different story and this why I'm here. It really sucks.
