I've just downloaded the new photoshop update (22.01) and I noticed there is no classic red area when you change Brush size and feathering (when using keyboard shortcut OPTION+CONTROL).

it is quite frustrating

@JeffreyTranberry I've actually never been able to get the red brush preview function to work in PS. I'm running Big Sur (v. 11.2.2) and I remain current with my PS updates (now 22.3.0 - but it hasn't worked for me in several versions). I'm running an iMac with a 5K Retina display, 2016 version.

I've tried to see if one of my preferences isn't set correctly, but everything seems fine - and I've changed them all one way or another, but still no red cursor (w/ info) when changing brush size. I used to be able to see it, but ... not for a long time.

Maybe I'm changing the brush size the wrong way? I typicall use the bracket keys. I'm at a loss here.

PS 22.2...MAC/OS Big Sur 11.2.1 -- I also had the problem. Took me a while to realize that the brush hardness/size indicator had mysteriously changed from the familiar red to white of all things. When I changed "Preview Color" back to red using Preferences, only appears to work for legacy brushes

@LuisLucky I've done some testing on Ps 22.2.0 running on Win 10 Version 20H2, Build 190742.746 and find that the red HUD brush aid works for most of what you'd call the standard, plain vanilla brushes. For many of the "custom" or more specialized brushes provided by Adobe, the red HUD aid does not show. It's hit and miss.

Works fine most of the time. Tends to disappear after a few copy/paste actions though...

Just updated it and can confirm it works on MacOS.

Does it work with custom brushes, or still just default brushes?

No problem here. It's still working in Photoshop 22.2.0.

I worked with Windows 10 Pro (20H2) and a Wacom Intuos Pro M (driver version 6.3.42-2)

My System: Intel i7-8700K - 64GB RAM - NVidia Geforce RTX 3060 - Windows 11 Pro 25H2 -- LR-Classic 15 - Photoshop 27 - Nik Collection 8 - PureRAW 6 - Topaz Photo AI
