P: Object Selection very slow response Photoshop 23.5

Current latest PS version is 23.5

And Object Selection is really slow.

It wasn't like this until the early version of PS 2022, but it's getting slower and at 23.5, it's really weirdly slow.

I thought there might be a speed difference between turning on and off the option, so I compared it, but the results were the same.

Precise previews for 16bit document on/off

Native canvas on/off

Multithread compositing on/off

Use Graphic Processor on/off

Image Processing- Select Subject(Device , Cloud) : I don't know if this affects object selection, but I tried changing options.

The size of the test image below is really small. 1000px x 667px (sRGB, 8bit document)

The reason why I tested it with a small image was because I thought it was because of the large image and the number of layers.

But if you look at the gif image below, you can see a huge difference in loading and speed

This is Photoshop 23.5's object selection.

Even though the end is cut to meet the gif capacity, the loading time in front is long. Once again, the test image is very small.

And Now this is Photoshop 21.0.3's object selection. you can check this...

Can you see the difference? It's a big difference.

This is the difference in speed that appears even though the image used in the test is really small.
In the actual working image (6000x8000px), there is a loading as if the computer had stopped a little bit.
It's the same if you try to select a very small, very simple part of a real image, not a lot of it.

This needs to be improved Speed or delay. In fact, the masking quality of those two images was almost the same.

I took the time to install and test the beta while my job working. And exactly what I expected.
I guess, "Fast" - GPU , "More Stable" - CPU.. it's right?

This is "Fast" option in Beta 23.5

And this is "More Stable" in Beta 23.5
This speed and loading is the same as the loading currently seen in the latest 23.5. So this is CPU processing, right?

And it's PS2020(21.0.3)'s Object Selection.

As I wrote above, the previous year's versions(2020,2021) were accurate, fast, and stable, even without separating GPUs and CPUs.
But why do we have to divide and choose in 2022?
I don't think there's any reason for this to be divided.

also... If the reason you made this option an option is because couldn't resolve the crash,
This release is meaningless.

If someone want "Fast", jsut take 23.0.0~23.4.2 version. Of course, crashes continue to occur. (If I'm right, this will be the same as Beta's fast option.)

And someone need "Stable, no crash", just install 23.5 version. And this is "More Stable" option in beta23.5.

@Yukie Takahashi @CShubert

Please explain the purpose and meaning of the release.
Tell me about this part.
Has the crash been resolved?

@Yukie Takahashi If the crash with Nvidia is resolved, shouldn't it be possible to have both the existing fast speed and stability? (like the previous 2021 and 2020 versions)

To have to choose between speed and stability, in other words, the crash has not been resolved. Please reply to this.

@Yukie Takahashi  Hi. It's good that the user can choose the settings as you said.

However, setting reason that must be just like a traditional versions to choose as fast as, or 23.5 2020 or crash to process cpu crash means to reduce the number?

If that's the case, I don't think it would be very meaningful to choose settings. Most of the many articles on this thread have not been used for a long time due to a crash.

@J E L@cifil , @kevafef

It could happen to all Nvidia graphics cards. A workaround is available on the current Photoshop (Beta) version from Creative Cloud Desktop > Beta apps. Make sure to use Version 23.5.0: 20220901.m.1877 or later.

We have introduced a new Preference to provide options to the users.

To access the new Preference:
Preferences > Image Processing > Toggle the Selections Processing “Faster” or “More Stable”

If you see slowness, try the "Faster" option to see if it improves the performance.

intel8700cpu & nvdia1060  /  intel12900 & nvdia3090ti
speed of the two PCs should be quite different. Isn't it?
The first computer is what I used a long time ago. But this time I felt loading that I had never felt before using Object tool Selection, and I found it was actually being delayed.
So I tested it with the first computer I used a long time ago because I thought that the computer I am using now became strange, but the speed is the same. Something wrong.
Window10 21h2 and GPU driver is latest. My photoshop version is 2022 (23.5.0)

I don't understand this. If there is a delay in a bad computer, you may think it is because of the lack of specifications of the computer, but now my computer is the top line that has nothing to supplement.................

When will the broken tool be repaired? I'm surprised there are so many people who have this problem besides me. Will this update be reflected in the next 23.6?
If so, when will 23.6 be released?

objectselectiontool is really slow compared to the computer specification I have.(I have intel12th desktop/AsusProart laptop). Is there any way to fix this? I tried rolling back to the previous version, but I couldn't use it because of too many crashes.

Ya, I have some problems like you. So, waiting for the best answer to this problem.

Whereas in the previous version the object selection tool worked excellently, it doesn't work at all in this latest update.

I have tried resetting the tool, updating my graphics card driver, turning off object finder, etc. and nothing. Whether I use the auto finder or click and drag, I just get the error message saying "Couldn't find an object. There might not be enough edge contrast, or the object might be too small." The problem with that error message, though, is that I've even tried the new object selector on images I've previously worked on before, and nothing.

I use a Dell Latitude e5440. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Esto no está arreglado.
Mi computadora es rápida.
Pero cada vez que intento elegir una herramienta de selección de objetos, soy lento.
