P: Object Selection very slow response Photoshop 23.5

Current latest PS version is 23.5

And Object Selection is really slow.

It wasn't like this until the early version of PS 2022, but it's getting slower and at 23.5, it's really weirdly slow.

I thought there might be a speed difference between turning on and off the option, so I compared it, but the results were the same.

Precise previews for 16bit document on/off

Native canvas on/off

Multithread compositing on/off

Use Graphic Processor on/off

Image Processing- Select Subject(Device , Cloud) : I don't know if this affects object selection, but I tried changing options.

The size of the test image below is really small. 1000px x 667px (sRGB, 8bit document)

The reason why I tested it with a small image was because I thought it was because of the large image and the number of layers.

But if you look at the gif image below, you can see a huge difference in loading and speed

This is Photoshop 23.5's object selection.

Even though the end is cut to meet the gif capacity, the loading time in front is long. Once again, the test image is very small.

And Now this is Photoshop 21.0.3's object selection. you can check this...

Can you see the difference? It's a big difference.

This is the difference in speed that appears even though the image used in the test is really small.
In the actual working image (6000x8000px), there is a loading as if the computer had stopped a little bit.
It's the same if you try to select a very small, very simple part of a real image, not a lot of it.

This needs to be improved Speed or delay. In fact, the masking quality of those two images was almost the same.

@dovocib Umm... That's your choice. But you don't have to do that...
If you want to start a new release neatly, Press Win + R and typing "CMD". And sfc /scannow
If you haven't found a problem, use it as it is, and if there's a problem that doesn't recover from it, it might be helpful to reinstall the OS.

@xisehaf Now that the Nvidia driver has been released, updates will be released in Photoshop as soon as possible. Stable(no crash) and fast as you want

@mocil1 No wonder there is no change in speed just by updating the driver(517.40).
The purpose of the latest Nvidia Studio driver is to fix the crash of the past year, which is only the basis for Photoshop updates.
In order to speed up, Adobe team should quickly change the previous changes to avoid crashes and temporarily process GPU processing to CPU. Of course, it is expected that the latest driver will work well with future releases of Photoshop 23.5.2.

Photoshop Version 23.5.1

window10 21h2 OS

Ryzen 5950x

RTX3080ti (Latest Studio Driver 517.40)

Nothing Change. No object selection speed improvement at all. Still slow and broken.

@J E L  Yes, Nvdia's driver for crash fix as i know.(23.0-23.4.2 crashing).

Now that the drivers they need have been released, the appropriate software will need to be patched.

Since this driver has not been released, we have not been able to prevent the crash for the past year, and we are temporarily processing it with cpu at the expense of adding speed, so I think we just need to get it back to its original state. We are waiting!(a year ago... lol)

Thanks, @Jqqerry, for letting us know. I've installed the new Nvidia studio driver and there is no change in speed yet with 23.5.1. I have Image Processing set to Device (Quicker results) but it's still slow in comparison. Hopefully, we'll get that patch in 23.5.2!

As expected, Nvidia GeForce Beyond has ended and a new driver (517.40) has been released.
I think we just have to wait for Adobe's 23.5.2 release, which includes a patch that restores this slowdown ObjectSelectionTool.

If this 23.5.2 update is released, I hope it will be a treasure-like update that addresses both the crash of the past year and the current slowdown speed. It's hard to wait any longer.

unsolved. If 23.5.2 is updated, I will reinstall Windows OS first. I've had enough of these bugs and crashes. I'm gonna start with a clean OS

@ceyoko  The CEO of Nvidia will give a presentation on the upcoming 20th. In line with that, NVIDIA's future, technology, and some new products will be released, so I think a new driver will be released according to that schedule.

If an update is uploaded tomorrow, it would be better.
The bugs that are reflected late in the release usually require something to reproduce a particular situation, and there are also minor bugs. But you can use it as a result.
But you can't even use a bug about this object selection tool right now.
In order to use it, I have to wait for strange loading in the current version, and versions like the previous 23.4.2 version even destroy my file due to a crazy crash.
It doesn't make sense that none of the 2022 versions have the original, working version.

object selection tool in 23.5 and 23.5.1 is too slow unlike the experience I used.
Turn at least at the same speed as 23.4.2-23.4.1. Also, please solve frequent Photoshop turn-off (crashdown). In the previous version, just pressing W caused a crash and I was going crazy.
