P: Photoshop 23.2.2 Can't open/update vector smart object in Illustrator

Just today, I updated to macOS Monterey and now I am having problems opening vector smart objects in Photoshop files. If Illustrator is closed, when I double click the smart object (or choose edit contents) Illustrator will launch but the file will not open.

If Illustrator is open and I try to open the smart object, I get a Mac error window that says "The application "Adobe Illustrator 2022" can't be opened" with a -1703 error code.

I'm using Photoshop 23.2.1 and Illustrator 26.0.3, which I went back to after seeing the problem first occur in 26.1.

The computer is iMac Retina 5K, 27-inch 2019  |  3.6 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9  |  macOS Monterey 12.3

Thanks in advance

@davidj43142994 If you are fortunate enough to have a Time Machine backup from prior to March 14 (when macOS Monterey 12.3 was released), you could restore the previous OS without a bootable installer. Just make sure you copy anything from your HD that you put on it after the 14th (or the date of your Time Machine back up) because everything on your HD will be restoresd back to the state at the time of the Time Machine backup you restore to.

Hola. A partir de la última actualización de Photoshop no puedo abrir los archivos de ilustrator colocados en el photoshop como objeto inteligentes. Me da este error. Lo he probado en otra compu y sucede lo mismo.

Cómo puedo solucionarlo?

Thank you for your reply, it was more helpful than mine. Unfortunately, this will not work for me, since I'm in the middle of a critical stage of a project. Reinstall MacOS now will compromise the whole schedule. We have to wait and use other workarounds until this issue gets fixed. Thank you again.

Unfortunately that is not working. We downgraded to lowest AI and PS and still have issue with 12.3 OS. Other than the workaround band aids that you've seen on here, the best solution until they actually fix is downgrade from 12.3 OS to 12.2 OS. which is a pain in the fanny because you have to create a bootable installer. We have not done it because we always get freaked out erasing our macs and using terminal (even with everything backed up). Link to bootable instructions if you dare! https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201372

...er... adding the correction to my previous post. Mis-read that it was Adobe's suggestion. Still. downgrading Adobe apps solves nothing with this bug.

@genteboa.pedro This is a clueless suggestion on Adobe's part after a week of feedback that this bug also affects previous versions of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. My own workaround "solution" was to re-install the previous operating system (Monterey 12.2.1) which wasn't easy, wasn't able to be done throught official Apple sources and took way too long to implement, but allowed me to retain my previously efficient workflow.

Same issue here. Apple suggested that Adobe users downgrade the affected apps while they work on a solution.
