P: Photoshop 23.2.2 Can't open/update vector smart object in Illustrator

Just today, I updated to macOS Monterey and now I am having problems opening vector smart objects in Photoshop files. If Illustrator is closed, when I double click the smart object (or choose edit contents) Illustrator will launch but the file will not open.

If Illustrator is open and I try to open the smart object, I get a Mac error window that says "The application "Adobe Illustrator 2022" can't be opened" with a -1703 error code.

I'm using Photoshop 23.2.1 and Illustrator 26.0.3, which I went back to after seeing the problem first occur in 26.1.

The computer is iMac Retina 5K, 27-inch 2019  |  3.6 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9  |  macOS Monterey 12.3

Thanks in advance

Thank you @J453 for the heads up today about the 12.3.1 release. Thanks to the Adobe engineers for anything they were able to assist the Apple team with in regards to the macOS bug (and lets face it, there have been more, more frequently over the last few years). While I've been able to identify and report bugs to Apple I've had to wait much longer than a couple weeks to get Apple to address so whatever weight Adobe was able to put behind getting the fix is extremely appreacited.

Here's to the next time we all come together over a bug, CHEERS!

It's always a best practice to make a system backup before updating your OS, but this question is best asked on the Apple forums or directly to Apple support.

Is this new update really safe? Or will it brick my MacMini like 12.3 did?

To echo what others have said, the macOS update to 12.3.1 fixed it for me as well.

Thanks Adobe or Apple or whoever got this done, it will be nice to have it working again.

FINALLY!!
macOS 12.3.1 latest update just release a few hours ago fixed the bug! So it was apparently Apple's fault, not Adobe...
