P: Photoshop 23.2 freezes on macOS while changing layer styles/opacity on a PSB file

Using macOS (latest version) on an iMac Pro. Changing the opacity on a PSB freezes up the program for 5 to 10 minutes at a time where you cannot do anything in the program. No spinning beach ball, just stuck on the arrow with no ability to cancel, exit, or do anything. Just started after I updated. Super wierd, but problematic.

This issue should be addressed by the 23.2.1 update that went out early this AM.

23.2.1 is out and fixes it... guess i didnt have to 'reset my preferences'... 😏

I've attempted to try this multiple times and have to Force Quit each time. Every Style seems to be causing the program to crash.

Thanks jasonm58749338 for your inability to suggest a fix for others here. I suppose I'm special and alone in having a build that doesnt freeze every time I use a standard feature like layer styles.

telling people to 'try' deleting all their preferences is a ridiculous suggestion... adobe needs to fix this issue on their end and issue an updated build that doesnt freeze every time you try to use a standard feature like layer styles IMMEDIATELY. 🤡

🤔 🤔 hmmm… I wonder if Adobe’s freefall on Nasdaq with 280 $/ share since december 2021 has got anything to do with bad management?

Amen!

I wish the latest Mac version would still support CS5.5. The CD is standing right beside me and I'd love to work with that instead of CC. Photoshop just crashed again. Added all together it destroyed 3 to 5 hours of my work this week (and in addition I spent a lot of time figuring out why). I'm paying for that program every months and it just keeps getting worse with every update.

Yeah, that share button is just ridiculus. Who the hell asked for this feature? Meanwhile I still miss the long gone ability to sync workspaces between devices. Which was removed because it was too difficult to understand. But now I'm able to share potentially confidintial work at the push of a button?

Been using Photoshop professionally for more than 25 years at this point, and it gets more and more toy'ish and unstable with each upgrade. Seems that Adobe forgot that they're catering for professionals first and foremost (hence the rental price).

Best of luck to you, Affinity Photo / Designer / Publisher. I'm rooting for you. But until there is a concensus and accept about using non-Adobe applications, I guess I'm stuck in this vicious rental scheme...
