P: Photoshop 23.2 freezes on macOS while changing layer styles/opacity on a PSB file

Using macOS (latest version) on an iMac Pro. Changing the opacity on a PSB freezes up the program for 5 to 10 minutes at a time where you cannot do anything in the program. No spinning beach ball, just stuck on the arrow with no ability to cancel, exit, or do anything. Just started after I updated. Super wierd, but problematic.

same exact problem... you need to issue a fix to this issue immediatly. this is unacceptable behavior from a piece of software i 'rent' for over $50 a month... you need proper QA on your releases... and get rid of that horrible BRIGHT BLUE SHARE button you added to my toolbar in this update with no way to remove while you're at it...

Mine freezes, if it crahsed you could get a crash report and find the issue at Adobe.  But the freeze requires a "Force Quit" which does not report to Adobe.

Hello!

I'm looking for some help because I'm facing some bugs on Photoshop 2022 with my M1 iMac (16 GB RAM).

Whenever I try to like change the opacity or the size of an effect like drop shadow, the settings just froze and I can't close the layer style window (I can move it though), the buttons/settings does not respond.

One time I had to wait like 30 minutes to be able to do something.

Most of the times I just close Photoshop by force but it's annoying.

On the screenshot below, I just tried to change the opacity and it froze.

I don't get it because it's not like the action request a lot of RAM? On Illustrator sometimes it takes a lil time for big big task (3D by example) but that's all.

Thank you for your help!

I am having the same issues as others posting here with 23.3 in Mac, it freezes constantly particularly with layer styles. And like a previous poster I cannot even send the crash report to Adobe since the only way out is a "Force Quit".  How long before you have a fix for this bug ~ it is really bad!

Thanks everyone. We were able to reproduce. Best bet until we have a better solution is to roll back to the prior version 23.1.1: https://helpx.adobe.com/download-install/using/install-previous-version.html

We'll update this thread when we have an update or fix.

How can I downgrade the update.

You want to go back to previous versions?

In Adobe Creative Cloud, select PS, click on the three dots and select "Other Versions".

How can I downgrade the update. I am talking to many users who are having the SAME issues after the update and Adobe, is acrting if we are making this up. =P

Still was freezing so I ended up downgrading to 23.1. When the freeze/crash happen PS doesn't give out the report window.

What happens is PS becomes unresponsive to anything for 5-10 mins and if your lucky it comes back.

Hi,

There is no repoert opportunity. It freezes and sits there. I have let it sit to see if it allows for anything, and only can see the PS says Application is Not Respoding.

This is going on from the moment I updated.
