P: Photoshop 27.10: "Edit in Photoshop" from Lightroom Classic & Lightroom Desktop does not load image with Denoise

Since today’s Photoshop 27.10 update, the “Edit in Photoshop” command in Lightroom Classic 15.5.1 is not working anymore for me. Photoshop opens automatically as before (if it’s not open yet) but no image is being loaded. Downgrading Photoshop to 27.9.1 resolves the issue and the “Edit in Photoshop” functionality is back to normal. I also tried to change the external editing file format from TIFF to PSD or PSB but this didn’t make any difference. Anyone else facing the same issue?

I’m running macOS Tahoe 26.6.2. Closing and re-opening LRC and PS didn’t solve the problem, rebooting the machine also didn’t show any effect.

P.S.: I posted this in the Photoshop forum as well

    Hi everyone,

Thank you for the detailed reports and reproductions here. It has been really helpful in isolating the issue quickly. I’ve filed this for the engineering teamto investigate and prioritize.

In the meantime, here are confirmed workarounds:

    • Downgrade to Photoshop 27.9.1 via the Creative Cloud app (Other versions > 27.9.1).
    • Alternatively: Temporarily disable Denoise in Lightroom Classic before sending to Photoshop, then re-apply back in Lightroom, or it using Camera Raw as a filter inside Photoshop.

We understand this disrupts a core editing workflow and appreciate your patience. We'll update this thread as we have more information.

Hi @sincere_Rosedaac, thanks for sharing this workaround! Please let us know if this workaround works for you. Re-posting the steps:

    1. Open Lightroom Classic Preferences → External Editing.
    2. Under Additional External Editor, select Choose and manually locate Adobe Photoshop 2026.
    3. Configure Photoshop as a custom external editor.
    4. Return to Lightroom, select an AI-denoised RAW image, and choose Edit In → the custom Photoshop external editor.
    5. The image successfully opens in Photoshop with AI Denoise applied.

    Thanks again for sharing! ^CH

I’ve found a workaround for the issue where Lightroom Classic fails to open AI-denoised RAW images in Photoshop 2026.  Normally, selecting “Edit in Photoshop 2026” causes Photoshop to become active, but the image never opens.  Here’s the workaround:  1. This method is noticeably slower than the standard workflow, but it works without disabling AI Denoise, manually exporting files, or downgrading Photoshop.  Since the custom external editor works while the standard Photoshop integration fails, this may help Adobe’s engineering team isolate the problem.  I hope this helps others experiencing the same issue and assists Adobe in developing a permanent fix.

Hi -thanks for the work around - do you know if you can open as layers in the custom PS external editor? I do a lot of focus stacking and would need to open a few de-noised layers.

    thanks

Today, choosing edit in Ps after using denoise has the edited file opening with denoise.

I’m using LrC 15.6.0, and Ps 27.11.0 on an M4 Pro mini running macOS 26.7.1.

In the attached screen shot, the left tab shows the denoised version in Ps. The right tab is the same photo but denoise removed.

Is it possible that the most recent versions of LrC and Ps have had this problem fixed?

I had some images open in version 27.11 but not all so it’s intermittent and not reliable so needs a fix

There are some issues regarding to send images to Photoshop.

Do you’re using AI Denoise in Lightroom before send to Photoshop? if yes, then see here:

    Also this can be related:

Yes.  All of these are my problem.  Will there be a new release that will resolve this?

...  Will there be a new release that will resolve this?

Maybe, maybe not. Adobe doesn’t annouce which fixes or new function will be integrated in the next updates. Also they say nothing about the release dates.

In November will be the next Adobe MAXX conference. I’m sure that at this date a few new versions will be released.

In the meantime we have to be patient and wait.

In photoshop 27, photos do not open in photoshop.  photoshop opens but nothing opens in it.  This is not a problem in v26.x.

Had the same Issue! Talked to at least 4 adobe agents which CLOSED chat while talking… Finally after 5-6 days of researching I’ve REMOVED images from LRC, re-import them and worked!

I can’t believe that after updates and over a month of this problem it has not been fixed yet, if I apply raw details into LRC it won’t open with “edit with” in LRC, it would work with PSbeta but not on the regular one, come on Adobe, there is competition out there!!!

Hi - I have the same issue running macOS 27.0.1, LR Classic v 15.6 and PS 27.11. I noticed that if you deselect Denoise but leave raw details it also doesn't open in PS. I have a workshop coming up next week and wanted to make sure of a few things.

    1. there is no current fix other than downgrading to 27.9.1 ?
    2. How do you re-apply the raw details enhancement after saving in PS and sending back to LR.

    Thanks,

    Brent
