P: Photoshop 27.10: "Edit in Photoshop" from Lightroom Classic & Lightroom Desktop does not load image with Denoise

Since today’s Photoshop 27.10 update, the “Edit in Photoshop” command in Lightroom Classic 15.5.1 is not working anymore for me. Photoshop opens automatically as before (if it’s not open yet) but no image is being loaded. Downgrading Photoshop to 27.9.1 resolves the issue and the “Edit in Photoshop” functionality is back to normal. I also tried to change the external editing file format from TIFF to PSD or PSB but this didn’t make any difference. Anyone else facing the same issue?

I’m running macOS Tahoe 26.6.2. Closing and re-opening LRC and PS didn’t solve the problem, rebooting the machine also didn’t show any effect.

Hi everyone,

Thank you for the detailed reports and reproductions here. It has been really helpful in isolating the issue quickly. I’ve filed this for the engineering teamto investigate and prioritize.

In the meantime, here are confirmed workarounds:

Downgrade to Photoshop 27.9.1 via the Creative Cloud app (Other versions > 27.9.1).
Alternatively: Temporarily disable Denoise in Lightroom Classic before sending to Photoshop, then re-apply back in Lightroom, or it using Camera Raw as a filter inside Photoshop.

We understand this disrupts a core editing workflow and appreciate your patience. We'll update this thread as we have more information.

I get repeated denoise errors. My camera raw version 18.5.1 is not working with the Lightroom version 15.5.1.

Open a file in Lightroom.

Apply denoise to the file.

Export the file to Photoshop using Command E or the menu item Edit in Adobe Photoshop.

Photoshop opens but the file is not loaded.

Go back to Lightroom, step back in history to remove the denoise step.

Export the file to Photoshop using Command E, this time the file opens in Photoshop.

Lightroom Classic 15.5.1 Adobe Photoshop 27.10.0

After further investigation it appears 26 files taken with my R1 on the same afternoon seem to be affected. Images taken after those 26 do open in PS with denoise applied. Same camera, lens and day. I have no idea why only these files seem to be affected?

Exactly same issue, I had to disable the “denoise”, but that isn’t a solution, this needs to be solved.

Can you launch the Photoshop application successfully on its own without Lightroom? What happens if Photoshop is already open when you select “Edit In?”

If opening Photoshop first doesn’t work, let’s have a look at your Preferences as seen in Lightroom Preferences > External Editing (as shown below):

It seems that my lightroom on my laptop is no longer recognizes my photoshop account and when I click, photo, edit it, photoshop, I only get the photoshop home page, It doesn’t open the window to edit on photoshop

Are these images (or at least one of them) denoised by any chance? If so, then this could be related to a know bug: https://community.adobe.com/bug-reports-711/p-photoshop-27-10-edit-in-photoshop-from-lightroom-classic-does-not-load-image-1639250?tid=1639250&postid=7745403

The same happens when trying this with the Photoshop Beta.

Several friends here have the same issue since the last update of photoshop.

I did remove and re-install both Photoshop and Lightroom Classic, but that didn’t help.

The same happens on both Windows and Mac M4.

In Lightroom Classic 15.5.1, “Edit a Copy with Lightroom Adjustments” is selected, but Photoshop 27.10.0 opens the original, unedited 16-bit TIFF instead of a copy with my Lightroom edits applied.

When I have Denoise or Raw Details selected/ticked in Lightroom 2026, It will not then allow me to load Photoshop using the “Edit in Lightroom” option. This has been ongoing for a few weeks now and has not been resolved by Adobe.

I would like this to be fixed, and to be able to have Denoise and Raw Details on when I edit in Lightroom rather than creating “Smart Object” etc. I like simplicity.

It has been annoying that it doesn't work, I think since the last MacOS 26.7 Update and not fixed even now with MacOS 27.

I am using Lightroom Classic Version 15.5.1 and Photoshop Version 27.10
