P: Photoshop 27.10: "Edit in Photoshop" from Lightroom Classic & Lightroom Desktop does not load image with Denoise

Since today’s Photoshop 27.10 update, the “Edit in Photoshop” command in Lightroom Classic 15.5.1 is not working anymore for me. Photoshop opens automatically as before (if it’s not open yet) but no image is being loaded. Downgrading Photoshop to 27.9.1 resolves the issue and the “Edit in Photoshop” functionality is back to normal. I also tried to change the external editing file format from TIFF to PSD or PSB but this didn’t make any difference. Anyone else facing the same issue?

I’m running macOS Tahoe 26.6.2. Closing and re-opening LRC and PS didn’t solve the problem, rebooting the machine also didn’t show any effect.

P.S.: I posted this in the Photoshop forum as well

    Hi everyone,

Thank you for the detailed reports and reproductions here. It has been really helpful in isolating the issue quickly. I’ve filed this for the engineering teamto investigate and prioritize.

In the meantime, here are confirmed workarounds:

    • Downgrade to Photoshop 27.9.1 via the Creative Cloud app (Other versions > 27.9.1).
    • Alternatively: Temporarily disable Denoise in Lightroom Classic before sending to Photoshop, then re-apply back in Lightroom, or it using Camera Raw as a filter inside Photoshop.

We understand this disrupts a core editing workflow and appreciate your patience. We'll update this thread as we have more information.

Here’s some step by step how to downgrade to the recommended Ps 27.9.1 to allow editing images denoised in LrC.

    1. From the Creative Cloud app, click on apps

If you're on the "Updates" screen, youi need to manually click the back button in upper left to get back to Apps.

    1. From the "Installed on this machine" screen, click the "…" menu for Photoshop
    1. Select other versions from the context menu
    1. Select 27.9.1 from the list of versions to install
    1. Click continue

When installation completed, I had Ps 27.9.1 installed and could edit images denoised with LrC in Ps.

FYI - I can still repro this issue today with Photoshop 27.11.0 (and LrC 15.6).

Not an issue loading 1. Why not 2 or 3 or 10?

If one out of ten images is denoised, then opening those 10 images as layers will fail because of this known bug. Opening the other nine images individually will work just fine. Hence my question (that you did not answer).

I did do a search for this issue and didn’t find anything. I didn’t do such a good job with that search I guess, sorry for the repeat.

I’ve just tested it with Lightroom Classic v15.6 and Photoshop v27.11 on Windows 11 and it worked OK here. Can you give further info on the steps to try and reproduce the issue.

open multiple images as layers from LRC. Not one. Multiple. I don’t have hours to open 10 1 by 1

I just opened 10 camera raw files, each 4480 x 6720 pixels with mixed orientation. Open as layers opened each onto a new layer, of a new document measuring 6720 x 6720 ( to take into account some were landscape and some portrait) and took about 30 seconds.

Have you carried out any troubleshooting so far, such a preference reset (back them up first)?

Now that this is sitting hung up, non-responsive. Will have to kill it, then probably I will find 40GB more of dump files, just because our SSDs should be filled up while memory is that expensive

Open as Layers in photoshop from LRC. Nothing happens. Broken as broken thing. This 27.11 may have partially fixed critical color bug from 27.10 but it is still unworkable. Total failure for critical commercial software. I have reported this to adobe rep a month ago, but they absolutely don’t care. Absolutely fed up.

Here’s all I’ll say, trying hard not to use profanities — Adobe get your flipping act together!! It costs a fortune to use your software and you just keep messing things up! I am seriously tempted to cancel my subscription and use CaptureOne instead. Just more Artificial Idiocy! And overpaid software coders with nothing better to do.

“Edit In -> Edit In Adobe Photoshop 2026” does not work for some raw files (it appears raw files [.cr3]  that LrC Denoise has been applied to). LrC opens PS but the image is never opened in PS. Other raw files open in PS and raw file with LrC edits with Denoise edit NOT done to them do open in PS as well.

    LrC: 15.6 Release

    PS: 27.11.0

    OS: Apple Tahoe 26.7.1 (25G241)

    Camera: Canon R5

To revert to an earlier version: Creative Cloud app > Photoshop > 3-dot menu > Other Versions
