P: Photoshop 27.10: "Edit in Photoshop" from Lightroom Classic & Lightroom Desktop does not load image with Denoise

Since today’s Photoshop 27.10 update, the “Edit in Photoshop” command in Lightroom Classic 15.5.1 is not working anymore for me. Photoshop opens automatically as before (if it’s not open yet) but no image is being loaded. Downgrading Photoshop to 27.9.1 resolves the issue and the “Edit in Photoshop” functionality is back to normal. I also tried to change the external editing file format from TIFF to PSD or PSB but this didn’t make any difference. Anyone else facing the same issue?

I’m running macOS Tahoe 26.6.2. Closing and re-opening LRC and PS didn’t solve the problem, rebooting the machine also didn’t show any effect.

P.S.: I posted this in the Photoshop forum as well

    Hi everyone,

Thank you for the detailed reports and reproductions here. It has been really helpful in isolating the issue quickly. I’ve filed this for the engineering teamto investigate and prioritize.

In the meantime, here are confirmed workarounds:

    • Downgrade to Photoshop 27.9.1 via the Creative Cloud app (Other versions > 27.9.1).
    • Alternatively: Temporarily disable Denoise in Lightroom Classic before sending to Photoshop, then re-apply back in Lightroom, or it using Camera Raw as a filter inside Photoshop.

We understand this disrupts a core editing workflow and appreciate your patience. We'll update this thread as we have more information.

Had the same Issue! Talked to at least 4 adobe agents which CLOSED chat while talking… Finally after 5-6 days of researching I’ve REMOVED images from LRC, re-import them and worked!

I can’t believe that after updates and over a month of this problem it has not been fixed yet, if I apply raw details into LRC it won’t open with “edit with” in LRC, it would work with PSbeta but not on the regular one, come on Adobe, there is competition out there!!!

Hi - I have the same issue running macOS 27.0.1, LR Classic v 15.6 and PS 27.11. I noticed that if you deselect Denoise but leave raw details it also doesn't open in PS. I have a workshop coming up next week and wanted to make sure of a few things.

    1. there is no current fix other than downgrading to 27.9.1 ?
    2. How do you re-apply the raw details enhancement after saving in PS and sending back to LR.

    Thanks,

    Brent

@Santi27959058yo1q The first thing I would do is look at Lightroom Settings, Command K to open it’s prefernces - External Editing - Photoshop version: Adpbe Photoshop 2026. If it looks correct, try selecting a different application temporarily, close Lightroom, reopen it, then reselect Photoshop.

I would then do a few simple tests to determine whether the handoff to Photoshop is working correctly. Next, I would reset Photoshop's preferences (Command K), sign out of and back into the Creative Cloud app, and then test the workflow using a brand-new Lightroom catalog with a single photo.

Finally, I would check whether Lightroom is actually creating the TIFF or PSD file when using Edit in Photoshop. In my experience, these steps resolve the majority of Lightroom-to-Photoshop communication issues that can occur after Adobe application updates.

Hi! many thanks for your attention to my problem. Indeed I already made the steps you mentioned, but I have discovered that this issue is related to a specific picture. If I try with different photos I have no problem. I do not understand. The picture does exist in the right folder. Have you any suggestions? I used it before to create a panoramic picture so it was “stacked” in lightroom. I “unstacked” it before reeding. I don’t know if this could be the source of the problem. Thanks again

@Santi27959058yo1q if other photos open correctly in Photoshop suggests the Lightroom-to-Photoshop connection is working. That makes me think ithis image or its metadata may have become corrupted. Since the photo was previously used in a panorama and was part of a stack, the stack or catalog information could also be involved. You could try saving the metadata to the file (Metadata > Save Metadata to File), then reimport the photo into Lightroom. Another option is to remove the photo from the catalog without deleting it from the disk and then import it again.

You can also try opening the original file directly from Finder in Photoshop, or exporting it as a new TIFF and opening that file in Photoshop. If the TIFF works, the issue is likely with the original file, its metadata, or its Lightroom catalog entry.

Having same issue PS 27.11, ridiculous that Adobe engineers did not test this before release.

I just discovered that if I “remove” from the editing applied to that specific picture the “super resolution”, It is properly opened in Photoshop! So this is clearly a bug of last release of Photoshop or in the interaction between last releases of LrC and Photoshop! Many thanks for your attention. Indeed i had the problem with a specific picture so it has to be related to the editing applied to that picture. I hope this can be of help also to you

I can confirm that this bug is still present in Photoshop 27.11.

When I select multiple photos in Lightroom Classic and choose Edit In → Open as Layers in Photoshop, Photoshop freezes and the images do not open.

The problem occurs in both Photoshop 27.10 and 27.11.

Downgrading to Photoshop 27.9.1 completely resolves the issue, without changing any other settings.

    My system:

    • Windows 11 Pro

    • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti 16 GB

    • AMD Ryzen 5 7600X

    • 64 GB RAM

This is an essential part of my professional photography workflow.

Please prioritize fixing this regression in the next Photoshop update.

Gotta wonder when the < Insults removed > are going to fix this. It has been quite awhile and there have been many complaints.

    Latest PS Beta and LR…

Mac OS X Golden Gate 27

Choosing Edit in Photoshop works intermittently. I choose a RAW on LR and I see the Opening in Photoshop progress bar. It works fine for the first few images but after a while, it stops working.

It gets stuck about 80% and nothing happens. After like 5 minutes of “trying” I get this message. (edit in Photoshop failed”

Like I said before, the problem is with RAW files. IF you convert the RAW to DNG it opens right up.

Also, if you manually go to File > Edit in and Choose PS beta, at first, it shows the App in the finder, but it doesn’t open the file. The second time, it opens ok…

It’s super weird and I need this to be reliable. I need to work and it slows me down.
