P: Photoshop 27.10: "Edit in Photoshop" from Lightroom Classic & Lightroom Desktop does not load image with Denoise

Since today’s Photoshop 27.10 update, the “Edit in Photoshop” command in Lightroom Classic 15.5.1 is not working anymore for me. Photoshop opens automatically as before (if it’s not open yet) but no image is being loaded. Downgrading Photoshop to 27.9.1 resolves the issue and the “Edit in Photoshop” functionality is back to normal. I also tried to change the external editing file format from TIFF to PSD or PSB but this didn’t make any difference. Anyone else facing the same issue?

I’m running macOS Tahoe 26.6.2. Closing and re-opening LRC and PS didn’t solve the problem, rebooting the machine also didn’t show any effect.

P.S.: I posted this in the Photoshop forum as well

    Hi everyone,

Thank you for the detailed reports and reproductions here. It has been really helpful in isolating the issue quickly. I’ve filed this for the engineering teamto investigate and prioritize.

In the meantime, here are confirmed workarounds:

    • Downgrade to Photoshop 27.9.1 via the Creative Cloud app (Other versions > 27.9.1).
    • Alternatively: Temporarily disable Denoise in Lightroom Classic before sending to Photoshop, then re-apply back in Lightroom, or it using Camera Raw as a filter inside Photoshop.

We understand this disrupts a core editing workflow and appreciate your patience. We'll update this thread as we have more information.

Has there been any update to this issue?

I am also experiencing the same issue on a Mac. Need to come back to LR, turn off Denoise, and then go into PS. Can’t apply Denoise after returning to PS, because the file is no longer a raw file.

Disable Denoise, then send the file to Photoshop as smart object. In Photoshop, double click the smart object layer. Camera Raw comes up so you can now enable Denoise in Camera Raw. If you do not want to continue editing with a smart object, then simply flatten all layers.

I'm experiencing exactly the same issue with Photoshop 27.10.0 and Lightroom Classic 15.5.1 on macOS. After applying Lightroom Denoise, selecting Edit in Photoshop launches Photoshop but the image does not load. Downgrading Photoshop to 27.9.1 resolves the problem immediately. Hope this gets fixed fast.

Thank you, Per, for your information. I’m glad to know Denoise seems to be the culprit. I had uninstalled and reinstalled LrC and Ps previously. Edits from LrC transferred to Ps only if Denoise wasn't used. I could also copy it back to LrC without a hitch. Any file with an edit involving Denoise did not work.
For now, I’m not going to revert in the hope that a fix will be along soon. I’ll do the denoising in either Luminar or Topaz. There are other editors, and I think Adobe needs to know this.

I have started to just import RAW files / Sony ARW into Lightroom classic then use de-noise then open in Photoshop. This seems to work so far !

I do not automatically convert my photo’s to DNG. at the moment. I can de-noise & edit in photoshop with no issues

Photoshop, please fix your bug so using denoise in Lightroom Classic will allow the photo to open in Photoshop. The 27.11.0 upgrade still hasn't addressed this,

Ok so i kept having this issue and found the fix talking to an adobe agent.

    • close Photoshop application and open Creative Cloud Desktop application and roll back Photoshop to 27.9.1
    • Open the Creative Cloud Desktop app. Click on 'Apps' on the left-hand side. Filter the applications by selecting 'Imaging' at the top. Locate Photoshop, then click on the three dots (⋮) beside it. Select 'Other Versions' and roll back to version 27.9.1.

Basically the latest version is broken. Hope this helps someone

We have identified the issue with the latest version of Photoshop 27.10. Please stay on this version for now, as our team is working to resolve this issue in the upcoming patch update.

    It’s a known issue with Photoshop 27.10.0.
As a temporary workaround, revert to version 27.9.1.

I am working on a Mac Pro 2019 running Tahoe 26.7.1. I use PS 27.10.0 and LrC 15.6. Until recently, I had no trouble organizing my photos in LrC, making preliminary adjustments, and then taking them into PS for more precise adjustments. Now, if I make any adjustments to a DNG file imported into an LrC catalog, the “Edit in Adobe Photoshop 2026” command opens PS but somehow does not transfer the picture; i.e., it doesn’t show, and I can’t work on it in PS. Oddly, if I do the same with an unedited file, it will appear in PS.
    What is going on here?
I tried throwing out the old versions of PS and LrC and rebooting the computer, but nothing helped. My workflow has been hit where it hurts, and if this issue can’t be resolved (my online research shows this problem has been known for quite some time), I’ll be forced to redesign my entire editing setup, including how I organize my photos. I’m sure you understand that I am very reluctant to take on that task. But Adobe is starting to look less and less attractive and reliable.
Any helpful suggestions or workarounds are highly welcome.

Update to Photoshop 27.11 or downgrade to 27.9 (Creative Cloud app > Photoshop > 3-dot menu > Other Versions). One of this steps should fix the issue, according to other user reports.

I updated to 27.11.0, and nothing has changed. As soon as you use Denoise in LrC, the file does not open in Ps. I’ll just have to go on doing what I’ve been doing so far: not use Denoise in LrC and do my denoising in another app like Luminar or Topaz, which I am also finding increasingly easier to use. If this Adobe attitude continues, they might lose me completely.

It’s still happening.  Once in awhile, randomly, a denoised raw file  open in PS, but 95% of the time, it doesn’t.  I’m downgrading to 27.9.1.  Just waiting for the fix
