P: Photoshop CC 25.9 (non-beta) Error: 0xc0000142

Hi,

I've noticed that there has been an isssue reported with Photoshop CC 25.9 (beta) here about Photoshop failing to start with error 000142.

However, it looks like this is now occurring on the released version of 25.9.

 

Photoshop auto-updated itself today (was working fine before), and I  now get the same error 000142 when I try and start it. This is NOT a Photoshop beta version.

 

This is on Windows 10. CPU is a 14 year old Intel core i7.

I know it's old.... but it's been working fine with no issues 🙂

 

Is this no longer supported?

If that is the case, why did the auto-updater allow Photoshop to update?

Am I going to need to downgrade back to the previous version or is this issue going to be fixed? 

 

Seems very strange that if Adobe knew of this issue that v25.9 would be released without fixing it.

 

If I do need to downgrade, how do I do that? I can't see a way to select a version to install.

    Hi guys, for me the same problem. I had to downgrad to version 25.7 to continue to use PS. Please Adobe Cie do something, we pais for that ! Thanks.

    They probably don't test Photoshop on old CPUs anymore that's why they never encountered this before releasing it.

    I am facing the same issue now after the Photoshop update, but I am using Windows 11. Is there already a fix for this?

      A alguien le ha dejado de funcionar photoshop desde ayer? illustrator e indesing funcionan perfectamente, pero desde ayer al abrir photoshop me da error,. El error es ste: 0xc0000142. Alguien sabe que es?

      After upgrading Photoshop CC to v 25.9, i now get error message 0xc0000142 and it wont open at all?

      Hallo,

       

      ich kann Photoshop nicht mehr starten, es kommt immer die Fehlermeldung von Windows 

      Habe Photoshop neu installiert, über cms /scannow bereits alles durchgeführt, habe es als Admin probiert zu öffnen und auch den Kompatibilitätsmodus. Funktioniert leider alles nicht. Hat jemand eine Idee, das Problem zu lösen?

       

      Grafikkarte ist auch auf dem aktuellsten Stand.

      I'm getting the same error with Photoshop 25.9  "The application couldn't be started correctly (0xc0000142). Click OK to close the application" I had to install version 25.7 to get it to work. This is not the fix I want or pay for.  According to Intel my processor supports  SSE version 4.2. If it didn't I would have had the same problem 4 years ago when Photoshop started requiring  SSE version 4.2

        I had the same problem with you.  Was using an old system, but upgraded my graphics card and everything was fine one day and the next PS would give me the 142 error and PS Beta would not open at all. I had to go back several versions on PS to get it to open.  I finally said [cursing removed] with this and bought a new computer and everything is working fine.  That's an expensive fix, but my computer needed to be replaced anyway.
