P: Photoshop CC 25.9 (non-beta) Error: 0xc0000142

Hi,

I've noticed that there has been an isssue reported with Photoshop CC 25.9 (beta) here about Photoshop failing to start with error 000142.

However, it looks like this is now occurring on the released version of 25.9.

 

Photoshop auto-updated itself today (was working fine before), and I  now get the same error 000142 when I try and start it. This is NOT a Photoshop beta version.

 

This is on Windows 10. CPU is a 14 year old Intel core i7.

I know it's old.... but it's been working fine with no issues 🙂

 

Is this no longer supported?

If that is the case, why did the auto-updater allow Photoshop to update?

Am I going to need to downgrade back to the previous version or is this issue going to be fixed? 

 

Seems very strange that if Adobe knew of this issue that v25.9 would be released without fixing it.

 

If I do need to downgrade, how do I do that? I can't see a way to select a version to install.

    I have Photoshop 25.9.1.626 on WIndows 10 and having this issue for a while. I've tried uninstalling and installing Photoshop multiple times, but no luck, it's till giving me this error. Is there a fix for this issue already? If there is no fix yet, why are we paying for monthly license if we can't use the application?

    Ich hab soeben das Photoshop Update gemacht und jetzt lässt es sich nicht mehr öffnen.

     

    Es sagt: Anwendungsfehler

    "Die Anwendung konnte nicht korrekt gestartet werden (0xc0000142)."

     

    Hat jemand eine Idee woran das liegen könnte?

    Arbeite mit Windows 10.

      Ho installato l'aggiornamento alla versione stabile 25.9.1 ma all'avvio da errore e così son dovuto tornare alla versione 25.7.0. 

      La versione beta 25.10 invece funzona regolarmente.

      Come mai tutto ciò?

      Olá, boa tarde a todos.

       

      Estou com um problema relacionado ao Adobe Photoshop. Ocorre que nas duas últimas versões (25.9 e 25.9.1), o software tem apresentado uma falha quando tento abri-lo. Quando tento abrir pelo Adobe Creative Cloud, ele não abre e quando tento abrir pelo painel Iniciar, aparece uma caixa com a mensagem "O aplicativo não pôde ser inicializado corretamente (0xc0000142). Clique em OK para fechar o aplicativo" (tirei print da tela mostrando o problema).

       

      Como dito, ele está apresentando essa falha nas duas últimas atualizações. Eu tentei reinstalar a versão 25.9 e o problema persiste.

       

      Gostaria de uma solução para o problema, pois eu utilizo bastante o programa no meu dia-a-dia.

       

      Desde já, eu agradeço a atenção.

      I get the same error on all newer versions and need to go back to 25.7 but there is a security bulliton for that version

      Hi getting the unable to open error 0,000142 message after updating to 25.9.1 (Windows OS)  All other adobe apps working fine. Tried the basic corrective measures ive seen online to no avail, wondered of anyone here could offer any advise / guidance.

      Running Windows 10. Successfully ran Photoshop 25.XX up until update to 25.91.

      Error occurs on launch. Uninstalled including removing all presets. Reinstalled and problem contnues to recur.  Running V24.74 OK. Have been unable to locate any info or workarounds. Latest Lightroom Classic 13.31 runs fine.

      See the pinned reply at the top of the page. The fix is not (yet) in the released version — only in the beta.

        Just tries to install 25.9.1 with hopefully a fix for the 0xc0000142 error, but it failed also to start.

        So back to 25.7 again which works still fine.
