P: Program error when saving, lag when zooming, changes not reflecting in document window (macOS)

Since the 22.1 update, MAJOR bugs:

- ‘could not save because of a program error’ when saving, work around: hiding a few layers or folders.

- major lag when zooming in

- actions and changes delay in showing, to the point where they never show up - once I close the document and quit Photoshop and go back in the changes are  visible.

what’s going on??

Same problem here with CS6 and it just started a couple of weeks ago. There is no Enable Generator is CS6 so that ones out the window together with the mode change to 16 bit and back again. I guess the chances of a fix for CS6 are, to say the least, very very remote as Adobe has long since moved on and if you have a problem, it's your problem not theirs. My OS is Windows 7 Professional.

Once I get this error, I can no longer open psd files or save in any format. I'm currently using cut from Photoshop and paste into Irfanview from which I save the file... it's not supposed to work this way so my advice to Adobe is, 'fix the bloody thing!'

Update:
I did some digging on the Internet last night and this problem was reported as far back as 2006! Almost a decade ago and it's still not fixed!

I have the same problem on Windows (8.1). Would be great if Adobe could solve this issue!

Can you please evolve your answer with what you know? On what system, OS, client and server do you know, that this is not a problem? We are a lot of professionals out here struggling with major issues every day.

We take it very seriously, and have spent a lot of time on these issues.
But the problems are almost entirely due to the OS and file servers.
A few issues have been due to the text engine, or Generator - and we have fixed those as soon as the problems were identified.

We have this issue all the time here at our studio. We are saving to a Linux sever and we are on Macs (10.9 and 10.10). This has been going on for years, but is more common now again after a period less of these. I have read many articles and posts, and I still don't know if it's Adobes or Apples fault. Neither of them seams to take this seriously really.

What are my options, a Windows computer and a Windows server? Can anyone else tell me their setup? Are you using TimeMachine on your workstations? That has also been up for talks if that is the issue.

Wow I had no idea. Even though you shouldn't need to, you could create an action and assign a keyboard shortcut that converts to 16 and back. Might help save a little time until the problem gets sorted out.

Have you uninstalled and reinstalled Photoshop? Sounds like your install of Photoshop is damaged.

This has been happening for me for month now with ps 6 and cc if I want to save anything with layers. All generator boxes unchecked etc. The 16bit change is helpful but a pain to do WITH EVERY FILE.
I AM A PROFESSIONAL EDITING PHOTOS ALL DAY AND WOULD APPRECIATE IT IF ADOBE COULD FIX THIS ITS REALLY REALLY ANNOYING
