P: PS 26.11 Depth Blur Neural Filter: We've temporarily disabled this filter because of an error

In Photoshop 26.11 on Windows 11, the Depth Blur neural filter is broken. It refuses to do anything. It just puts up a message (at the top of the filter panel) saying the filter has been disabled due to an error.

I reverted to 26.10 and the filter works in that version.

I've checked the Neural filters on my machine after updating PS to 2026 and it worked fine.

Try to add a new layer to your image and then try to activate the Neural Filters.

you can also try to reset the preferences of Photoshop using the steps described here:

https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html#reset-preferences

It's recommended to backup your settings before resetting the preferences.

See here:  https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html#backup-photoshop-preferences

Thanks AxelMatt,

I just updated to Photoshop 2026 (Ver 7.) and all seems to be well on a MacBook M3 Pro with Tahoe.

I will say when installing the new 2026 version, it did not add the Photoshop icon to my dock, nor did it remove ALL previous versions of Photoshop as it said it would. It removed 2025, but I still see 2024 and 2023....

As well when I opened the program the Neural filters were greyed out. I added a layer to my image and that activated the Neural Filters. Interestingly after that, the Neural filters were available for all images.

Hope this might help others.

I've installed the new release Photoshop 2026 (27.0) today and do a short test with the depth blur filter.

It worked successful and it seems the bug is solved.

Error: “We have temporarily disabled this filter due to an error”

Hi, I’ve been having this issue for several weeks (maybe even months).
The problem is that it only happens with certain filters — sometimes they work fine in Photoshop, then stop working, and later they work again in Photoshop Beta, and so on.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

  • I uninstalled and reinstalled both Photoshop and Photoshop Beta.

  • I manually deleted and reinstalled the filters.

  • I checked my internet connection (I thought it might be that, but it’s not).

Everything was working perfectly until suddenly this error started showing up.

Has anyone else experienced this issue or found a permanent fix?

I've been struggling with the same problem for hours. It turns out it wasn't working with just this one photo. I tried creating a copy with Gemini and then ran the Neuarl filter, and it worked!

In the reply above, I mistakenly wrote "Lens Blur Filter", but the correct term is "Depth Blur Filter".

If it's not just a problem with the Lens Blur Filter, please ask in a new thread.
If, as everyone has said, the problem is only with the Lens Blur Filter, you can use it by reverting to 26.10 or installing Beta27.0.1.

This error means the Neural Filter feature has been temporarily disabled by Adobe due to a bug. Try restarting Photoshop, checking for updates, or signing out and back into your Adobe account. If the issue continues, wait for Adobe to fix it in the next update.

This is a known bug in version 26.11 -> P: PS 26.11 Depth Blur Neural Filter: We've tempor... - Adobe Product Community - 15523307

Go back to version 26.10 or use the Photoshop Beta 27.0.1 (in this version the issue is fixed).

Note: We are expecting an new version (2026) to be released within the few weeks. Typically a new version is released on of the first days of Adobe MAX.
