PC restarts 100% of the time when using the Object Selection Tool.
I9 9900K
32Gb RAM

Adobe seems to be ignoring the users that have this problem so the only solution might be to spam them until they fix it.

Thank You for the tip 😉 Yes, In my case it was a too high clock on AVX in BIOS.

I created another thread. Bottom line is 23.x.x does't work.  22.5.8 does work.

Hi @rgames10030622, sorry to hear this.

It may help if we could see your Photoshop System Info. Launch Photoshop, and select Help >System Info...and copy/paste the text in a reply.

Thank you,

Not fixed - I have the same problem in 23.4.1 with the latest Nvidia drivers.

Every time I select the selection tool I get a hard reset on my computer.  No BSOD, just black screen then a restart.

Has anyone found a solution to this problem?

@Whilhelm5CE5 Were you still seeing this issue with Photoshop 23.0? Or only older versions? This issue should not occur in the current version. If you are able to repro with Photoshop 23.0, please submit all Crash Reports along with your email address: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/submit-crash-reports.html

Hello guys!

Had this issue before, almost got crazy when i saw my 2000+ USD pc reeboting only because of Adobe, it was happening with adobe XD as well, my final solution was to go to the task manager and set the affinity of the CPUs below the cores i know my processor has, IE: i have a i9 which has 8 cores, for some reason, Adobe/Windows thinks i actually have 15 CPUs and whenever i check the affinity it has all the CPUs enabled, just by unchecking some of them and letting it with 7 or 8 CPUs it starts working fine and stops reeboting my PC, hope this helps anyone else that has this issue

Same here. The most help you get from Adobe is to reset your preferences.

Thanks, your hint about a new motherboard had me check more bios settings.  The photoshop select subject issue is a problem with cpu AVX512 instructions which are sensitive to overclocking and other cpu bios settings.   (But of course, adobe was unable to provide any help or information in that regard.  An addition to their sniffer program to test their use of AVX instructions would have diagnosed this issue...)

I've ended up changing the motherboard and the problem stopped.
