Konrad,

In between steps 1 and 2, can you leave Bridge check in the Windows explorer if the file modification date "Date modified" of the file has actually changed?

Does it matter where the JPGs are stored in your filesystem? What if you use a JPEG that's just sitting on your desktop.

Thanks,
David

I can reproduce the error:

1. Setting a label and rating to a jpeg in Bridge (6.0.1.6 x64). Viewing the file info in Bridge I see (among many others):
5
Approved

2. Open the image via double click in PS 2015.1 (Win7/64bit) I see none of the Rating or label XML-Tags in the File Info there.

3. Saving the JPEG (same or other name) from PS results in the lost of label and rating in Bridge.

There seems also to be a difference between the Adobe XMP Core Versions:
While Bridge shows in the FileInfo a
"Adobe XMP Core 5.5-c014 79.151805, 2013/04/09-12:08:21"
Photoshop shows
""Adobe XMP Core 5.6-c067 79.157747, 2015/03/30-23:40:42"

Edit:
Using PNGs the labels and ratings are preserved after open/save the PNG in PS.
Open a JPEG with labels/ratings in PS and saving it as PNG deletes the information.

Please provide a sample of a JPG file that exhibits the behavior: metadata that appears in Bridge does not appear in Photoshop after you open the file in Photoshop.

Can you please provide an example of a file that exhibits this behavior.

I can confirm this is happening to me also. I tag/rate my images in Photo Mechanic and it's acting similarly. When opening the file in the latest Photoshop CC 2015 there is no star rating in the file info dialogue.

My apologies, I did not realize you were Adobe employees. I appreciate the help.

The issue is a disconnect between Bridge and Photoshop and being able to read the metadata between the two of them as in my post just above. I have made sure that both programs are up to date, but to no avail.I sure hope this issue can be replicated soon, as my workflow relies heavily on ratings and labels.

No, the Save function has not changed. And we have been investigating (as you can see above) - but we cannot reproduce the problem at all.

Yes, there is a connection. It looks like some people are noticing that the 'save' function in 2015 has changed somehow and the problem is not with the Image processor script but with Photoshop itself. I hope the folks at Adobe are working on this issue...

There is a post on the Adobe Public forums regarding the metadata being stripped out using Image Processor - is there a relation?

Photoshop is not opening JPEG images into ACR.

Where is the option to write metadata into files vs the Bridge database? I'm not seeing that setting.
