I agree. This can't be a complicated fix. Replace function is a very basic step. Adobe's corporate bureaucracy is renowned for its inefficient machinations and quick responses. Here, most likely an instance of a programmer or team's sloppy work existing outside the purview of people who could remedy a quick fix.

And now the trolls have arrived.

@DGrainger - You aren't part of the solution. Go take more bird photos.

Still a faulty analogy. It’s just a forum. Quit equating the idea of barraging Twitter to serious tangible scenarios (Portland, emergency rooms). It’s not that deep lmao

So, do I understand you correctly, that you approve of inundating the fora with twitter blasts as a helpful means of hastening the programmers? Please tell me how they would even know about that senseless clamor.

Another analogy for you: would you advocate a crowd beating on the doors of an ER berating the doctors inside to hurry up?

I understood the (faulty) analogy perfectly fine... as well as ur condescension now. You’re kidding yourself if you think that topic isn’t politically charged & more nuanced/complicated than to be boiled down into a software bug comparison. It was dismissive & inappropriate.

I am sorry that you did not understand the analogy.  My point is that all the twitter blasts and furious posts elsewhere do nothing constructive towards fixing this situation.  That was not a political comment, it is and was a comment about behavior that is not very mature.

And here we go again, with someone making something political when it's COMPLETELY uncalled for.

@andrewcroft:

@Treehouse Customs LLC

Here we go again, with some threatening a baseless Class Action, and another wanting to start an avalanche of twitter posts!

That's like thinking that burning down homes and businesses in Portland would improve the chance for minority prosperity!  Mob action is destructive...

Save As dialog box: “file.jpg (or file.png) already exists. Replace?”
user: “yes please, replace.”

Photoshop: “okay. Done.”

user: “wait...now there are two files. File.jpg and filecopy.jpg. That’s not replacing. That’s saving a new version. Maybe you don’t know what the word ‘replace’ means?”

The reason this is a major deal (beyond the fact that a dialog box should perform the action that it describes) is that most users keep one layered PSD source file, but distribute flattened jpgs to clients and for final delivery in many cases. If a client makes a change request, we update the layered file and then need the ability to update the corresponding flattened jpg to keep our files in order. Adding a new file with the word “copy”added is double work. First we need to find and delete the original file, then we need to find and select the new “copy” version and delete the word “copy”.  I can’t imagine how this is a difficult thing to fix. Seems like such basic functionality. Glaring example of Adobe QC in a very bad state. Hope they correct the ship soon.
