That was a pretty big omission from the original story, so yes.

Adobe, what's going on here?  Why is there such a delay on fixing this issue? I've used Photoshop for almost 20 years and have become so frustrated by this for the past year now.  It makes my file saving process tedious and very time consuming (having to delete the old file in order to save without "copy").  Flattening is not an option with many of us. Some of us are REGULARLY updating/editing saved files and could really use this fix.  With the amount of complaints I can't believe Adobe hasn't taken care of their customers requests for this fix by now.

In a first conversation in which they connected remotely to my computer to see it in live, the guy told me this normal-behavior thing as a typical answer of a help desk person not very trained, the day after they called me and told me that the bug is known by the developer team and they are working on it. Does it make sense now?

That doesn't make sense. If they say it's "normal," then they don't regard it as a bug. So what are they working on?

Adobe regards a lot of broken, unprofessional junk as "correct."

Photoshop Family,

I talked to the Adobe Photoshop team and (after an interesting call when they told me that this behavior is normal: "you can only save a jpg from another jpg in Photoshop"... no comment) they have said to me that they know about this bug and they are working on it, so let's hope they fix it in a soon update.

cheers

We're STILL discussing this?

Come on. Give it a rest, and get rid of Adobe "Creative Cloud." It's done.

This thread is going on for ages and Adobe simply don't care at all...
Every day I have to make work arounds which cost me extra time and money. And still they collect my money for the software... every month...
Let's send Adobe an invoice of lost time due to this annoying bug....

With DefaultFolder (CMD+ I) I can get rid of the 'copy' text with in the dialog window... and move the first original file to the trash (CMD + T).

Maybe Adobe should pay for such losses! Luckily it's not happened to me yet but I have sent versions to clients where they say 'you haven't made the amend!?' when you have, it's just sat in the same folder as 'copy'. very annoying and embarrassing. I now use the 'export as' method, but it's not ideal and slower. This thread shows Adobe really don't care about this. Saving over something is just fundamental in any software?!

Something I've gotten used to doing since I have the luxury of  3 monitors is...

I Started saving Jpgs I'm working on to 1 file...
If a revision is made, then I toss the previous jpg.

Not a fix... and not happy... but it works.

*gioxcas "export as" is fine for web, but not print (working with TIF files), where the "_copy" bug really pooches you when you need to make a last minute change to a photo(s) and the job gets run with the original file (instead of the updated one). Makes for a pricey bug (and an upset boss or client).
