P: Spring Loaded shortcuts more sensitive - Turn off toggling between tools

If you switch from a tool to another while holding the tool's shortcut button (i.e : switch from brush tool to eraser tool with a shortcut, but holding the "e" key while erasing something) make photoshop toggle between those tools. Some people may make use of it, but not me. In addition, the keyboard shortcut often lag, making photoshop do the toggle out of nowhere. It's really frustrating especially for Illustrators since I change the brush and eraser tool often. Please do something about it.

@dmohr Hey David, it had been 4 mths since you placed the request and over a year since this thread begins and another major update had come and go without a fix to this problem, and it is getting no less annoying to work with.

This is simply not a bug that we can get around just by getting used to, i tried very hard to just double tap on a shortcut. At this rate, it will be easier for us to just get use to another program. I had always recommended photoshop to my juniors in the industry, but after this, I can no longer do it.

BEFORE:

I press a key -> I click -> I let go of the key -> I let go of the click -> spring-loaded key is not triggered.
AFTER:

I press a key -> I click -> I let go of the key -> I let go of the click -> spring-loaded key is triggered and it goes back to the old tool.

The difference is when I let go of the key while the click is still down, it still counts as spring-loaded.

Adobe needs to fix this to what it was before or add an option to remove it. (Both preferred)

I went back to the 2019 version and things worked fine, and the spring-loaded keys were still working. So the spring-loaded lag "feature" started around 2020. The problem is that the key registers as spring loaded after my finger's lifted, as long as the mouse is pressed. Although, I would REALLY appreciate it if there was a way to disable it. As someone that switches between brush and eraser at fast intervals, this "spring-loaded key feature" serves absolutely no purpose but to mess up my workflow. I'll be using a pirated copy of the 2019 version or Affinity Photos until it is fixed.

@Jay Van Esbroek Meanwhile several of the competing products are slowly but surely adding more photoshop features that don't break their software.

Every single photoshop update for the past 5 years left me concerned of which important feature they will break with each update, like changing of shortcut keys etc.

Truly hate it when they try to explain it away as a "feature". It's not. It's not a feature if it's not working the way it is intended to work. Plus, honestly, how many of us users even use that "feature"? I had no idea that it even exist in the last 2 decades I had spent using the product until someone broke something and now we had to spent frustrating hours waiting for a fix

Just letting everyone know, the February 2021 update that just rolled out does not include the option to toggle off spring-loaded tools.

I'm getting to the point that I just want to start learning another program. Spring-loaded tools being forced upon us is the most infuriating thing ever.

During my art stream yesterday, I accidentally zoomed out to like 0.0001% zoom level because I tried to make a few strokes after zooming in and it swapped back to the zoom tool. This happened about 8 times during the stream and I nearly ripped my hair out.

Adobe, for the love of God, please stop beating around the bush and implement a toggle for this horrible feature.

I made an acccount just to voice out my concerns here. It's really driving me nuts! It's a huge workflow disruption as I rely on hotkeys to switch tools, and to have Photoshop automatically switch it back when I didn't want to is very frustrating! Please, please PLEASE give us an option to disable this!

This "feature" is utterly crippling. It's slowed my workflow to about a third of its previous speed. Please fix this urgently. We're paying good money for this application.
