P: Text Size Scubby Slider and Up Down Arrow no longer gives live updates

I updated to 19.0.1 this morning, and everything is lovely with the exception of the Character palette. I'm suddenly unable to see increases or decreases made to any inputs in the Character palette via the up- and down-arrow keys in real time (only when I tab out of a field or hit Enter to commit the change does the actual type onscreen update). I'm able to make updates with arrow keys in other palettes (e.g. Paragraph). I should mention that I'm on a Macbook Pro (OS 10.13.1).

I can't help but wonder what Adobe is doing to resolve this... it's a huge issue for those of us working in Photoshop day-to-day. I believe this problem has persisted since October, 2017. I don't dare go to an older version as I have hundreds of actions and multiple palette layouts saved, and colleagues of mine have lost their settings when going back to a previous version. No one can tell me that it would take 3 months (and counting) to fix a problem of this magnitude. And why aren't we receiving discounts for having to work with a broken product? I guess Adobe does care... about the monthly payments, at least.

Hi Adrian,

Sorry for your frustration over this issue. We have not forgotten about it. It is a known issue and will be resolved in the next release of Photoshop.

Hannah

You can have both version at same time if new has something wrong. I am practicing this and it's good.

When will I learn to stop updating Adobe products? The amount of useful new functionality absolutely pales in comparison to the number of core functions like this that are routinely broken and require an unreasonable amount of time to fix.

Also you may find either or both of these threads helpful should you need to look for a copy of your presets and actions in your files:

Hi Erik,

I'm so sorry to hear about your actions and presets. Though I believe they are still there, but do not automatically get imported when you start using a different version.

Can you try Edit > Presets > Migrate Presets and tell me what happens?

Thanks,
Hannah

I can't believe it's been two months and no fix.

I just used Hannah's solution of installing the previous version. It worked but I lost all my presets and actions. The amount of hours that have no been lost on this one simple thing is sadly becoming overwhelming.

Hi Marv,

Here's what the file structure looks like on my Mac (in Applications). I keep multiple installations on my machine and switch between them. If you expand any of the versions you'll see they all contain a Presets folder (which also contains Actions, etc.). It's pretty easy to see everything.

Also in Photoshop you can import Presets from other versions into the version you're using (via Edit > Presets > Export/Import Presets).

Hannah

That's how I do it in Windows and never lost any settings since CS4. Already moved from computer to computer 7/8 times, always with the settings.
