Photoshop CC 2017: I have the same issue with type tool. Some font are working normal for example: Adobe Caslon. When I use some other fonts like Futura from TypeKit or Museo Sans and most fonts from TypeKit or default, making the type tool unusable. Like choking the photoshop. Its hard to select some phrases, change formatting and other stuff. After choose some options, every changes take about couple of seconds, sometimes wheel is spinning...

I'm working on Mac Pro Tower 2012. 6 cores 3,33ghz, 48GB RAM, ATI Radeon 5770. SSD drives for system, for scratch disk and other ssd for storage. OS X Yosemite.

Of course before CC 2017 everything was working fine.

I have made such as things as:
1. Disable Font Preview - Nothing change
2. Reset tools - Nothing change
3. Check Book fonts and erase fonts with warnings - Nothing change
4. Reset Photoshop settings - Nothing change
5. Disable GPU - Nothing change
6. Clear cache - nothing change

I thinking about moving to the old version of Photoshop.

Thank you for the link. I've tried all the advised steps to no avail. Still, thank you for responding.

I'm not sure this link will help with whatever the issues are that you all are having, but I've had problems before and used  their font test successfully, as well as checked to be sure I had no fonts known to cause issues. I'm extremely wary now of free fonts, as well as any fonts that I install with a possible error (usually free TT fonts). At least this gives you all something more to troubleshoot with if you're so inclined. If it's just your Typekit connection, I very much doubt it will help at all, but if you're seeing other problems without using Typekit fonts, it might be of some use.

Have recently experienced this in the past few weeks, even on basic system Arial font. 2014 Macbook Retina. This is a much bigger deal than how it appears Adobe is responding, and I've been ready to pull the trigger on Sketch fulltime for a few months now. If this isn't fixed in the next couple weeks, then the Sketch vs Photoshop/Illustrator debate is done.

Same problem. Newest update 2017.0.1 is sooooo slow.

I am also experiencing this problem. When i'm working in a large paragraph of text, Photoshop usually almost crashes... It gets very slow! 1 sentence of text is not a problem.

I have my font Preview set to Large, and a fairly large paragraph using Typekit fonts isn't causing any lag either with previewing other fonts or editing the paragraph itself, whether using alternate glyphs, changing the spelling, editing a few words, cutting and pasting—I've pretty much tried everything. So could it be video cards? OS?

I'm running Yosemite on an older Mac Pro 2009 with an upgraded Nvidia card GTX 680, so certainly not the hottest or the latest.

Same here. I've tried everything. I upgraded a week ago. I wasn't having this issue on the previous version. Now I'm spending valuable time trying to figure out a "work-around" or solution. I wish they can roll out a fix or a way of reverting back the type tool engine.

Thanks for bringing this problem to light.

I've observed that if I select a "paragraph" or a long string of text, it's unbearably slow compared to selecting only a "sentence" or a few words. I'm not sure if you are encountering the same.
