P: Using Wacom Cintiq pro pen in Liquify will crash Photoshop every time

chad_rolfs  You are welcome. I hope the problem can be solved. I tested the same situation with Surface pro and pen and there is no problem with the Liquify. Previous versions of Photoshop like version 21.0.2.57 don't exhibit the same problem. I think the problem started when the lag about controlling the brush size with the pen was fixed. So while I can go back to the previous version and work in Liquify and pen without problems, there was that very annoying lag when changing the size of the brush which is also offputting, so I guess there is no perfect version yet:)

I have a similar problem with crashed GPU acceleration when opening more than 25 documents in Photoshop. I tested with other pc and laptops and I found that problems exist with every device I tested( I am sure you can reproduce the problem on any device). Previous versions didn't have the problem. 

@frafilipo art  Thank you, this is great... not for you, I know, but this is great info for us to look at and fix this.  Thank you!  Your hunch about GPU may be right on, there have been recent changes in that code.

In the video, I am demonstrating using Liquify first with the mouse, then with the Wacom pen. I was using the pan and zoom, the results are as you can see in the video(very strange, it is not just flickering), and I was trying to transform the layer, but nothing happens as it is somehow locked. Everything stays like that as long as I restart the Photoshop. Once the problem starts, it happens with other documents as well where I didn't use Liquify. My guess is something triggers the GPU acceleration to go out of control.

Yes, I have the same problem as before, didn't change at all with the newest release. I use the normal mouse with a low polling rate as I am not a gamer at all. I am a designer working 12 hours in Photoshop daily. The problem starts only when using Wacom pen in Liquify, using the mouse doesn't produce the problem. It is not just flickering, everything goes wacky, controls, moving...it happens with any layer.

That is not gaming software but regular AMD software for updating...I don't play games at all. I hope this helps, if not I can make another video.

Older versions don't have the same problem. I first experienced the problem a half a year ago.

@frafilipo art I have a few more questions.  I can't reproduce accessing Free Transform on a Background layer, that is certainly abnormal and you shouldn't be able to do that.  It is possible that prefs are somehow corrupt. It's a sucky suggestion but you could try starting with fresh prefs and see if that resolves it.

I also noticed your gaming software.  If you have the mouse polling rate set high, that can result in the flickering/jumping you're seeing.

I updated to the newest version, the problem is here. I get the problem every time no matter the size, mode... As you can see in the video, pan and zoom start flickering, and transform is blocked.
