P: Window does not have Focus on Opening until I click Anywhere on Photoshop

I am sure you are overloaded with grips about the new Start Screen. My particular problem is that Photoshop does not appear to have focus when first open with Window 7, at least. This means that shortcuts, like Ctrl o don't do anything, and nor can you run an Action after opening Photoshop. Clicking anywhere on the Photoshop window (not just the Start Screen) fixes this.

@JeffreyTranberry

I've been having the same problem with Photoshop 2020 and 2019. I finally have gotten annoyed enough to find out how to fix it.

I am working on a Mac with Mac OS Catalina, but it was doing the same thing in Mojave.  It happens when I'm in another program and I use CMD+Tab to go back to Photoshop. If I try to change tools or create a new doc or anything, my computer beeps at me until I click in the PS window. Then everything works. It also seems to do it when I use a filter/extension like Topaz that opens a new application and when I get back to Photoshop, I have to click in the workspace before I can do anything else.

This was the only place I could find something that addresses it even though it is an old thread and on Windows.

Please help.

What OS are you on? On Win 10, I can launch Photoshop 21.0.2 and ctrl + n and bring up the new document dialog - also if I hit the tab key it cycles through the controls on the Home screen - so the app appears to have focus.

I have an open issue for the cursor visibility logged with the team.

Nope, not fixed. PS still not getting focus on opening. Have to click in the window to gain focus.
Also, can you please have a look at this thread regarding the cursors being near invisible...

I notice someone is paying attention to the issue, because they've merged the MANY threads about the issue. Yet there's been no response from anyone about whether we will ever be able to actually see the cursor....
I was actually going to suggest what Fernando Almeida suggested, exclusion or inversion mode for the cursors and tools. The ability to choose cursor/tool color (in addition to exclusion/inversion) would also be great, in order to make them more visible.

This issue should be fixed in the current version, Photoshop 2020 v21.x or later. Let us know if you're still having trouble.

sorry everyone, this is a known issue that we can't fix this year.  We'll be using a different component next year that will not have this problem.

Maybe a Windows issue? Here on Mac (High Sierra), I have no problem using kbsc. I haven't tried running an action since my actions work on open documents. But Cmd-O and Cmd-N do work. The ESC key works just fine to exit the Start Screen workspace and be in the normal workspace, too.

I have to wonder, since you're not using the Start Screen features, why you don't just turn it off in Preferences? Or at least, hit ESC to bypass it whenever you'd normally use Cmd-O or run an action? What are you using the Start Screen for?

I have exactly same problem in CC 2018 on Windows 10. This is annoying I have to do additional click each time right after launching Photoshop. Only then some keys react when I press them.
