Problem

Selecting File → Automation Tools → Contact Sheet II immediately produces:

  • Could not complete the Contact Sheet II command because of a program error.
  • The operation could not be completed. An unknown operating system error has occurred.

The Contact Sheet II dialog never appears.

Expected

Contact Sheet II dialog opens normally.

Actual

Immediate program error before any images can be selected.

Troubleshooting already completed

  • Reinstalled Photoshop Elements 26.3
  • Deleted preferences
  • Rebuilt plug-in cache
  • Verified other Automation Tools (Picture Package opens normally)
  • Issue persists after reinstall.

    First thing i would try is trashing the Contact Sheet II preferences by going to

    Macintosh HD/Users/UserName/Library/Preferences/Adobe/Elements/26.0/Adobe Contact Sheet II

    then trash the

    Adobe Contact Sheet Prefs

     

    The Contact Sheet II preferences are in your User folder which is hidden by default on Macs

    (on Windows as well)

    An easy way to get there is click on your desktop then click Go and while pressing the Option key

    you should see Library, which is your User Library.

     

    Another way is to click on your desktop, then in the Go menu click Go to Folder and paste

    ~/Library/Preferences/Adobe/Elements/26.0/Adobe Contact Sheet II
