Add Frame Hold on Premiere Pro 2026 does not work

As the title states. This morning after updating I was simply trying to cut a video file over top to stay at it’s preferred frame. Once I cut the layer at the preferred point I right clicked to Add Frame Hold, yet no matter what I did the frame would not hold. It would either create another cut and not frame hold, or it would do nothing and not frame hold.

Other users in the past recommended right clicking and Clicking Ok once you click on Hold Frame Options, but that did not work as intended either.

Obviously an easy work around is to just take a snapshot of the preferred layer at the preferred time and reimport it, but the frame hold saves me several clicks and is easier for project hand off.

I’m having same issue. Just updated yesterday. But weirdly it was working fine all this morning. Tried quiting. Restarting the computer all together. Not helping.

I have the same problem. Add Frame Hold does a cut, then the frame hold segment just plays like normal, not a frozen frame.

Same here. Adobe seems to be introducing glitches instead of producing stable products. Features that worked before suddenly don’t in new releases. I’ve tried everything.

Annoyingly, a solution that works once, doesn’t work the next time. Eg. “instead of cutting, THEN trying to add a frame hold; move your playhead to the desired frame then add a framehold without cutting.”

It worked once. So tried it again. No luck.

it is endless, endless glitches and non-features being constantly added. Earlier the mask feature was frozen on a hand-grab signal and I couldn’t edit the pen vertices. The freeze frame doesn’t work anymore. Adobe is literally just endlessly reinventing the wheel. I still cannot comprehend why this is happening. Cmd+W also closes panels now if they’re focused. Nothing in this program works as intended. It is virtually one of the worst programs I have ever used in my entire life. Layer management is trash. To this day we can’t just click and select layers and paste into them. We can’t really rick click layers or drag them around. Zooming in and out of the timelines is so insanely complicated. They’ll always pay support and receipt their diehards to tell us in the dorkiest of scoldings that “OMG! THERE’S A KEYBOARD SHORT CUT FOR THAT!!”” Except I don’t judge GUIs on whether or not Adobe is building for its staff and keyboardists. The whole thing is falling apart.

    Hi @Hunter22157998mvlf,

Sorry you’ve been experiencing issues. Let us know if the suggestions helped. Otherwise we need a few more details like hardware and operating system information. Please see How to Report a Problem.

Is this issue happening with a specific clip or a specific project (or is it happening with different clips and in other projects)? Could you share additional details of the media you are working with? (source, format, resolution, fps, effects applied, etc).

A screen recording of the behavior can also be helpful if you’re able to share.

    Sorry for the frustration,

    Dani

Hi! Just fix it. You have enough money to buy about 3 of each computer. Stop begging for people to give you information. Report the bug, and fix it in your own time with your own staff using your own systems. You have so many bugs and glitches it’s beyond belief. We’re getting sick of the “sorry, but we need you to tell us all your information!” spiel. It’s universal, it’s everyone and everywhere. Your problems are persisted across the board. Figure out which bug goes to which system on your time. We’re sick of this product and its terrible user interface and god awful layer management, “custom Adobe file select menus” instead of native file selects. And everything else you shove in here that breaks everything constantly.
