Adobe Premiere 25.5 Bug: Files with video only (no audio) are laggy / wrongly playing at slow fps

Description:
After updating to Premiere Pro v25.5, all footage shot with my DJI drone (video only, no audio) started playing back at extremely low FPS.

  • The issue affects both preview playback and final exports.

  • The footage itself was recorded at 29.95 fps or 59.95 fps.

  • The same files play smoothly outside of Premiere Pro.

  • Prior to updating, everything worked without issues.

  • All my DJI drone footage, including audio, played well at both 29.95 fps and 59.95 fps.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Import footage with video only, no audio, into Premiere Pro v25.5.

  2. Attempt playback in the timeline or preview.

  3. Export the footage.

Expected Result:
Footage should play back and export smoothly.

Actual Result:
Playback and export are both extremely choppy, with very low FPS.

Workaround:
Downgrading to Premiere Pro v25.4.1 resolves the issue.

As I didn't find an answer online, I hope this workaround helps others save time and energy until this bug is fixed.

Cheers!

Hi @Livia Oh Man -  Thanks for submitting your bug report. We need a few more details to try to help with the issue.
Please see, How to Report a Problem.

Can you let us know your system specs?

Can you try and hold down "SHIFT" while launching Premiere and check the boxes
"Clear media cache files"
"Reset plugin loading cache"

Sorry for the frustration.
