Clips replaced using 'Replace Footage' link back to old version when opened on a new machine

25.2.3

I have a clip, FilenameX.mp4

I replace with FilenameY.mp4 using the Replace Footage function. Footage updates across the project/timeline etc.

Save the project. Send to a colleague. When they open it, it links back to FilenameX.mp4. This happens every time we open on a new machine.

How to stop it from doing this? Working with dozens of replaced clips and it's very time consuming.

@Peru Bob I have tried deleting all media cache files however when I open their project, it's still linking to the old clips, despite the file name on the timeline and in the project window displaying the new ones.

This has been happening since v24.

Hi @hugemittons

Thanks for submitting your bug report.  I'm sorry Premiere is giving you problems.  Have you tried resetting the cache on the new machines?  Are you using a standard Premiere project or a Production/ Team project? Is the footage all centrally located, or does each editor have their own media storage?  Did this behavior begin upon the update to 25.2.3?

If you have time, please give the team a few more details. See: How do I write a bug report?. I hope we can help you soon. Sorry for the pain points.
