DJI HEVC 10-bit 4:2:0 footage will play in preview window but not in sequence.

Never had issues with playing back drone footage within Premiere but now (since 26.3) I have hit a major but.  The HEVC 4.2.0 10bit is stumping playback. Only way around is proxy or render the clip. I moved over to Resolve and no problems.

    Hi @Bclarkified

Thanks for stopping by the Premiere forums! We are aware of this issue, and there has been a bug ticket filed.

Some workarounds in the past included enabling High Quality Playback on Program Monitor settings or rendering in to out.

I think you may have seen this other DJI HEVC post -

May we get some more details from you to add to the bug report? Details like if Mac (and what macOS) or PC (whether Windows 11/10, plus what driver version & build), what version & build of Premiere are you using, how’s your media stored (NAS/External) with our bug report details.

I saw you mention “since v26.3”, does that mean you’re currently using v26.3.2?

What about v27.0 Beta, does it also experience the same issue?

How about if you load that same footage into a new project?

If you’re able to capture us a screen recording of it doing this, that would be very helpful.

    Hope to help!
    Katie

Hey there, thanks for checking in. Sure...I am on Mac OS 26.6.2, M4 Max Studio model, 64 gig Ram. I am using Pr 26.3.2. I had downgraded to 26.3 but still had same issue. Here is an interesting gotcha.  I had tried enabling HQ playback and no dice. After the downgrade and re-upgrade I enabled HQ playback and it works.  Talk about a head scratcher.  I did try the Beta version and it had the same problem but i did not try HQ playback in beta only in 26.3.2 which works.

@Bclarkified Appreciate your fast reply and update on that. Wow, I don’t know why you had to do that loop first, and sounds like now enabling High Quality playback cleared the issue.

I’ll leave this post open and do please return and let us know if you encounter the issue again. If you do, see if you can capture that and attach it to your reply (or we can send you a dropbox upload link if too big)

    Thanks for your time!
