Dynamically linked comps in PP from AE break when saved in AE

It's random. It can be working one day (as it is today), finding and re-linking everything on project open, correctly updating as I make changes to the comp in After Effects, and so on. And then another day everything breaks, nothing re-links properly and it's just an exercise in frustration when work pressures are already hitting you hard, hence my less-than-helpful language in my previous post.

It doesn't seem to be a transient app state, either. Closing, relaunching, even rebooting didn't solve anything. I had to re-link everything from scratch. When the exact same files end up working correctly, I'm not sure how I can provide any kind of bug report, since there are no steps to reproduce that I can offer. It's just generally flaky.

Still broken in Ae/Pr 2024.

Worse, Premiere often won't even let you relink the comps, even if you already re-linked some to the same project.

I just had this happen to me, where I'd edited a bunch of comps in an AE project that was linked to a PR project.

First problem of course is that the comps had their link broken in the first place when saving the AE project. This shouldn't happen.

Second is that when re-linking the first comp, locating the AE project correctly brought up the file browser showing the comps available within the selected AE project. I clicked the comp, it re-linked, so far so good.

But when I went to re-link a second comp, I got this gem of an error message:

All further attempts to re-link comps failed with the same error.

Outstanding. A key workflow function is so fragile as to be unusable.
