"Go to Previous/Next Edit Point on Any Track" doesn't actually work application wide

Although the hotkey is set under "Application" and is directly under "Go to Previous Edit Point" which DOES work application wide, previous/next track will only work if the timeline is selected.
This behaviour can be observed on 24.5 as well as the 24.6 beta. I am currently on windows.

This behaviour also persists even if nothing else is set to the same hotkey.

@Kevin-MonahanI am seeing no difference personally. My biggest gripe personally with the current behaviour is that trying to use "Go to Previous/Next Edit Point on Any Track" does not work while the effect controls window is active no matter what its hotkey is. For a normal user this probably doesn't matter that much, but I have the hotkey bound to my mouse wheel as it can tilt - meaning the only way for me to get around this limitation is programatically focusing a bunch of other windows to eventually focus the timeline. Which is only necessary because using the hotkey to focus the timeline will swap sequences if the timeline is already the focused window (a whole separate rant).
Ultimately it just creates a whole bunch of annoyances as sometimes focusing multiple windows rapidly lands you with strange behaviours, or premiere almost getting stuck , etc etc.

If this behaviour was only broken due to my hotkey of choice being the default up/down key (since those keys have other functions when a value is selected in the effect control window for example, or other functions in other windows) I could understand that and would simply add another hotkey, but it just doesn't work unless the timeline is selected regardless which makes it feel like more of a bug to me more than just a failure in language or a general oversight.

Hello @Tom_edit and @Trent Happel,

Has this behavior changed for the better in 24.6 since the bug was filed? Can the community have an update?

Thanks,
Kevin

Yes, this is an area that could use some TLC. It gets tricky when the same shortcut applies to more than one panel. In this case, I think Application was used since the shortcut key applied to more than one panel, yet the behavior can differe based on the panel. This is further confusing since it was named to a specifc panel(s) behavior. eg: "Go to Next/Previous Edit Point on Any Track" will also multiple select clips in the Project panel. Again, this can definitely be improved and sorry for the confusion.

Upvoted. Tested in Beta 24.6.0.37.

Go to previous/next with and without "any track" are both used for shortcuts in the Project and Text panels. And with focus on either of those panels, the shortcuts work in that panel - all as expected. And I liked your test to remove any other shortcuts to see if that made a difference.

The plain up/down arrow operates on the timeline no matter which panel is active, except for those two.

The shft+ works only if the timeline or Program Monitor is active.
