major bug on audio when importing a video file.

I have two cases:

  • either the sound is not imported AT ALL...( the video does contains the sound), like NO sound track…
  • either the audio and video are not synchronized…

I do NOTHING else that importing a video…
My project was build up from the previous version of premier, I dupliacted it, removed the video and imported the news ones that I need…
I am stuck with this issue since 2 weeks now...corresponding to the exact moment I installed the V.20.5.2

my laptop is on windows 11 pro, V25H2

processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) ultra5 135U

type of video : MP4 Video File, recorded with the tool “camera” of the computer

I didn’t try in another project… it really happened strating from the conversion from my previous project to the new version of adobe (cf screenshot) (but again, I removed all the previous rushes and imported the new ones...)

Try Preferences > Audio Hardware and set Input to None.

Many users are having issues with VFR. If the file is variable frame rate.
Use Handbrake to convert to constant frame rate before importing into Premiere Pro:
    https://handbrake.fr/downloads.php

    Here is a tutorial:

Shutter Encoder may also be used to convert to Constant Frame Rate:    https://www.shutterencoder.com/en/

Thanks Peru, but, the issue appeared right after the update of the new version of Premiere2026, never before, so to me, there might be an issue in the new version.
Indeed, I have your suggested tools as a way to limit the bugs 😊

Hi -   Thanks for submitting your bug report. We need a few more details to try to help with the issue.  Please see, How do I write a bug report?

Can you post your specific system details from the link above.

Are you saying creating a new project and importing your MP4 video file shows no audio?

Does it have audio if you open it in a program like VLC on your windows machine?

    Hello Jamie,

I stricly followed the bullet points of the article “bug report” to write my bug report, can you be more precise on the “system details” that you need ? I though I answered the various points..

I already gave the OS, the processor.

the machine is a Dell latitude 5450

I have 24Go of RAM but my IT team added some (due to my previous Premiere issues...really difficult to work with this combo laptop + premiere !!), so I don’t know if the figure appearing in my “system information” take the added RAM into account.

    graphic card: 128 MB

    storage 477 GB

OS 64 bits, processor x64 (I think I gave you everything appearing in the information system...)

    Regarding how the issue appeard:

    • I duplicated a project (done on the previous version of Premiere), I removed the video files to add the new ones, and then, I have no sound.
    • I succeed to have sound, opening specifically in an empty project, then importing the video in this empty project, then copy / past this into my project - but then the sound was not synchronised.

of course the orignial video file has sound (I tried it on VLC and the default video viewer from windows) !

    SO...

    • I restarted my laptop.
    • and I did again the same process : I duplicated my previous project (done on the previous version of Premiere), I removed the video files to add the 3 new ones, and then, the sound was still de-synchronized on one of them (less than the first time, but still..)

    Thank you for your support

Hi @Aurélie38 - What does it mean when you say “I removed the video files to add the new ones”. Can you provide your exact steps?

What version of Premiere were you using before upgrading the project?

What version of Premiere are you currently using?

Are you saying these files worked correctly in one version of Premiere but not the other?
